Dimming when bass hits. - Audio & Electronics Forum

Sorry for all the posts man...
Now that I finally got my radio to power up, and good god it was simple. My fault, I don't mean to bother you guys. I was playin around with it and my deck seems to DIM whenever bass hits and I have the volume turned up. Now, I have a capacitor and two 12" Cerwin Vega subs that I am going to hook up as well... Will the CAP fix that problem or will that only help the subs draining power?
Thanks,
Chris
do the big 3
throw the cap in the garbage (it's not made to keep your lights from dimming anyway)
upgrade your stock battery
come back and tell us how it went.

Will upgrading the battery REALLY fix this problem?
C.
yes...the battery does make a difference. the big 3 may not be needed now...but later down the line you will be able to see the difference.
me = newbie
what is the "big 3?"
C.
wires from the following...
battery ground to the battery plate.
alternator ground to ground
alternator + to battery fused
i want to say this is correct...if not, i'm sure others can shed some light
I don't understand what all that means? Whats the battery plate and what is battery fused?
C.
here....do this

that's the big 3. you don't HAVE to have a fuse going from the battery to the alternator though

So I just reground the battery to the frame of the car? Or can I leave it the way it is?
C.
Also, just do get rid of my dimming deck, will ONLY the new battery help?
C.
i haven't had a chance to upgrade the big 3 and i don't have any dimming problem. only changes i've made is yellow top and recently the grounding kit.
Did you have dimming troubles before you upgraded the battery?
C.
what kind of battery should i get, if not an optima?
just so you know...
when i bought my car brand new...ALL my lights dimmed when the fan would kick on for the heat/ac....
but anyway..yes, a better battery will help you. how much power are you running?

well now, its just a little deck. i have AC.. and yea, the lights dim for that but i ant stand it dimming when music plays. i will eventually have 2 12" cerwin vegas running about 500WATTS if that..
I do know that older cavs all have dimming issues with any type of upgraded stereo system on tap. big 3 as said above and a new battery. (optima etc). Also certain Amps made by companys like Sony rockford, etc boasting of a 1200 peak power capability like the GTX sony series take a ton of power from the car itself and give little in return.
My Cav
I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"
my car used to dim before also. now i don't have any problems.
i know that my wife's 02 has problems with the interior lights dimming. all i've done to hers is new speakers and deck. upgrading the battery to an optima or another deep cell battery is always a benefit to your car. it needs more juice for everything you're putting in.
I dont have a problem with dimming unless I am at idle since I upgraded my Alt... but roughly what is the cost to do the big 3 right... and where can I find a good price on a yellow top... the stock batt just doens't cut it with my Fosgate system...
It can never be too fast nor hit too hard!!!!

ur best bet is to get a high output alternator if nothing else works..
already rebuilt it and wound it tighter... puts out 140 now...

you don't need a yellowtop for under the hood..it's made to be drained and recharged, and that won't be happening in your case.
go buy an everstart maxx. half the price of an optima and it's better.
