I don't disagree with you there. BUT, the longer it takes someone to snatch something, the chances of someone catching them or them getting spooked goes up. If someone has a lot of time to work on the car then I say forget it. I'm just trying to prevent a grab and dash.
build the box in the trunk, therefor it can not be removed from the trunk. Of course then they can always just unscrew the sub from the box. So........uses security hex screws with t-nuts from partsexpress to lock the subs down. And I recommend a forcefield to go around your car, cause if they want the subs, and dont get them then they are just going to destroy the sub and possibly the car.
Camo is your best defence, turn the system off 8 minutes before you reach your destination, Chances are if your system is stolen you let somebody know it was there in the wrong place @ the wrong time. Big timers and professionals will not waste there time on lower end gear. They target high high end stuff, So if you find someone poking around your house, then get worried. Camo it, Alarm, and face plate removal = your best bet. Driling holes under into the spare tire compartment would be a safe bet as well.

more times the not..it's gonna be some kid, or some crackhead. and they don't care what you have, they'll take ANYTHING.

yeah 90% of theieves are your smash and grab types. their not going to spend 5-10 minutes getting a sub out when they can go to an easier target and get someone elses radio or subs in 2 minutes. bolt the box down. security screws are great, another thing is thieves wont carry a ton of tools. so if you use a couple diffrent screw types, its going to piss them off as well. if a real thief wants it chances are he will get it, but if its a real thief chances are he'd just take the entire car.
and i could care less if a theif destroys the sub because he's pissed he can't get it. either way insurance will cover the bill. in some of your guys thoughts, the theif gets the sub and uses it or makes money off of it. if he gets pissed and just destroys it, yeah i have to get another one, but i get the satisfaction of knowing his ass came up empty handed.
another thing is to actually call your insurance agents and sit down and go over everything you have in the car, just because you have insurance doesnt mean everything is covered, fact is its usuallly not. it may say stereo is covered, but does that mean an aftermarket stereos? or subs? one insurance company went so far as to say it would cover sub boxes and eq's and amps. but it had to be literally bolted to the car. and pictures were required. i usually end up having to get a rider added on to my policy wich is basically extra coverage. so make sure you are really covered before it happens.

The only thing that can be stoled in my truck is my deck. My subs are downfiring over my amp rack and both are bolted to the floor. You'd have to find some way to lift the box in order to get the amp, crossover, or the subs. I used many different types of screw heads and bolt heads....some in hidden locations

Exactly why I said your best defense is to camoflauge your gear, remove the faceplat, tint, turn off your tunes 5 minutes prior to arriving to your destination, professional thieves can even have a bolted box out in 2 minutes flat. I have seen them jack rims off integra's and the like around my old house in 4 minutes flat, that is with lock nutZ on as well. If the crack heads have no idea of your gear, then they won't bother

A professional won't bother as well if the gear is half rate. This is your first, and easiest way for defence. an Alarm only warning system, you have to react, and in that 40 second reaction time your stuff will be gone . I do reccomend alarms though, I have an Alpine one going in within the next few months, you can never have to much protection.

for alarms...it's worth it to pay the money for a good one with a paging system.

Okay, I Don't advertise my system at all. only family know my car. My co workers do not even know my vehicle they think I drive something else. My system is loud, however I do not play loud except on highways and I will turn it down if approaching a red light. I certainly don't play my system anywhere near my house. As for the alarm, I have a Viper 791XV with the brain mounted well into the dash ( can only be accessed by removing top of dash). I have added a battery backup for the alarm (not just siren), multiple sirens (including Piezos) throughout, hood pin & trunk pin (came with it), DEI 508d field distrubance sensor( I have no falses even though its a common problem with those), and headlight strobes front a rear. My box is bolted down and I plan on switching to a variety of bolt/screw/nut types. So I have already gone a long way, Just looking for any other ideas.
I meant to add that I do appreciate the input and that I should have listed the specifics in the original post
only problem with paging systems if you exceed 200 yards from it, it ceases to work. And thats if it is installed correctly with all variables perfect.

the viper responder system works up to 3/4 mile away.
personaly..the only time i'm remotely far away from my car is when i got to a store. and even then it's far less the 3/4 mile.

Yeah, I get great range out of the viper. I am also never far away from my car. There is also a fixed camera on my car at work incase I can't just run out I might be able to catch some luck with evidence such as a tag number or something.
i just got my 4 13inch w7s stolen so when i came out with this box i decided id give those lil *#^$ a taste of there own medicine i now have two cameras watching my truck and doublesided razorblades with chains holdign down my sub box witch is in a steel shell everyone that sees it thinks its straight from the millitary or sumpthing lol but atleast this way no little #%@^$$$# are gona get my system again..
go downtown and hire a big black guy to sleep in your car. when people break in, they'll be in for a surprize.
"what the **** you doing in here, punk?"
*proceeds to kick theifs ass*
on a serious note, done leave your car anywhere it shouldnt be. my house has a huge gate, so a theif would be hard pressed to steal anything out of my car from there, at work theres a guard with a 12 guage shotgun sitting att he entrance to the parking lot(and only employee's are allowed to park in there) and the only other place is school. since i cant drive around campus with my stuff on, no one knows its there.. limo tint all around(even front winsheild)
^ what he said. My neighbor did the razor blade thing...but he took them out in fear of being sued.
does anyboyd have links of some cheaper alarms with paging system or the security screws jw also if i installed my reciever do you think i could install an alarm
haha i would love to see some one try and steal my sub and box. 65lb sub+4cuft box=80lb+ it take me and my step dad too get the beast in to my car it would be funny to watch some try and carrie it away
