I have a 2001 Cavalier with the digital odometer. The odometer no longer lights up, you can still see it from an angle but it's black. I'm thinking there is a bulb behind there but I couldn't see it. Does anyone know how to change this bulb out? I don't care what kind of soldering I have to do, I just need to know what bulb it is. I have also heard of people swapping clusters. Will a 2000+ cluster with tach work in this car even though it currently doesn't have one?
Also. I pulled the factory power locks out of a 2000 cavalier which required me to pull the entire car harness. Man that was a job. Every freakin wire is bundled together in these cars and they didn't think of using connectors anywhere. Well I got the power locks in and also had to grab the BCM (body control module) to get the driver side door to work. When I plug the BCM from the junk car into the good car, The mileage changes on the odometer from 55,000 to 115,000 ish and the car locks out. The theft light is blinking and the radio reads loc. I imagine they forgot to disarm the system when they ripped the junked car apart and that's why it's locking. I didn't realize that the mileage was stored in the BCM or is something wacky? I called several dealers to see if this is fixable via programming, some telling me they don't know and others telling me that it can't be done because it can only be done once per BCM, and some telling me they think it can be done. Don't these GM mechanics know anything about they're cars?
If anyone know anything about any of this, please let me know.

They can't flash the BCM, but they can change the mileage and the theftlock stuff. Its going into theftlock mode because you are using a BCM from another car, and it doesn't recognize that you've put it in another vehicle. Its a theft deterrant system. Mileage on the 2000+ J-Bodies is stored in the BCM.
As for your cluster issue, you can pick up any 2000+ Cavalier or Sunfire cluster with or without tach and it will plug right in and work. Your correct mileage will show up, and the tach would work if you got one.
