Which area is the most accurate for measuring the true SPL of a system. I had my system metered yesterday at a USACi show and they placed the mic by the passenger kick panel.
I got a 135.8 db with 2 MTX Road thunder 12's in a sealed box running off a MTX 251D amp. The subs are facing the back of the trunk and I had the rear seats folded down.
Also would it hit higher if I had taken the camera bags and tripod that I carry for work out of the trunk?
I know these are cheap subs but I'm building the system mostly for SQ and decided to get a quality front stage before the bass.

Each organization has their own placement rules. It would be best to contact whichever org you plan on competing in to find out where they place it in advance.

you used road thunders for SQ?
I had 2 of those on a RF punch 400s for my first system, and lets just say I'm glad I have seen the greater light when it comes to distortion free motor topologys.
They hit 135db in a sealed box ? I would be giving myself a high five if my "road thunders" hit 135db in a sealed box....... I fail to see the problem here.....

Reread the last part of his post.
He is keeping those until he upgrades his front stage. Once that is done he will be moving onto the subs.

The system has arrived.
Better subs will be coming soon. I'll be sealing off my doors this weekend so I can get more punch in the midbass then I'll be building some kick panels for another set of Alpine 6.5 Type S Components or a set of 6.5 CDT Audio Braxials. I'll be getting the CDT Audio Stage Front Tweeter setup to.
The Subs will probably be Memphis Audio. I have a friend that has a stereo shop so I can get a good deal on them from him. Plus Memphis will warranty just about anything.

lol. those type-s components sound awesome dude, but if i were you, do what i did, wait a lil longer if u gotta save cash and get the type R components, WORLD if difference, i listened to a lot and the type r's are just amazing

Type R's are miles apart, IF you really want sound qaulity though on a higher level, Save up for Type X's, or CDT's EF's, HD's, or CL's. Once you go CDT.. You NEVER go back.

nice on the 135.8 and i think its wierd that they put the mic by the kick panel. when i got mine done they put the mic buy the windshield and i hit a 149.2 with 2 memphis 12inch m3 subs on a memphis 1000d
i also agree with short hand on getting type r's or even saving your money and get cdt's
