okay, well, first of all, thanks everyone for looking at this post, this weekend could have not gotton any worse within 2 days, but it did. you see, saturday night while i was out, my tranny decided to start acting weird, so now i have to see if i can get the car trailered to Indy for the bash, or just chance it with driving. but thats not the problem. i have two kicker L5's, pushed by a JL audio monoblock 500 watt amp. now, it has power going to it, but, theres no sound comeing out of the subs, its been hooked up for about a year, so i know its not wired wrong. it cuts in and out, like it will come on, play for about 10-15 seconds was the longest, then cut off again. but the amp power light will stay on, so i know its getting power. then it will come on, then go right off again. im thinking either the amp took a dump on me, which would piss me off, b/c i payed 600 for it, or im thinking the RCA wires have a short in them somewhere. what do you guys think it can be. thanks again guys, also if there is anyone in chicago that is not busy in the mourning, and might be able to come by and help with this, please let me know, i need to fix this by thursday. thanks again!!!

I think you're right on about the RCA's. Check if there are any cuts etc through out the wire, or if you have a spare set laying around switch em out. Also make sure the wires going to the subs haven't come loose, and are cut-free. After that I'd double check power, ground, remote wires for smalls cuts etc.. after that it may be that the amp decided to die, if you have access to another amp for testing purposes that may also help isolate the problem
hey im new but i no alot about systems ive been working on the for a while my guess is the rcas are the problem if not the amp could be shorted or the rem could be cut on sumthing sharp and grounded but i would check the rcas i have seen all 3 problems do that
well, if the remote ground or power were cut, then the amp itself would not come on, but the amp powers up fine, just no sound to the subs, i checked the wires going to the subs, and they are fine, i even tried to see if it were the sibs them selfs, by removing one wire off each seperatly, to try and get the amp to kick to one sub, and still nothing, ill check out the RCA's tomarro, that has to be the problem. but if not, then the damn amp took a dookie on me, and ill be pissed, all this a week b4 the damn bash. lol. thanks guys, ill check it out tomarro mourning. thanks!!

hope it is the rcas i meant mabye the rem was like slitghly cut and like making sparks onand off but i see now you mean the amp power light is on so i couldnt be that it has to be the rcas or a blowen amp
