hi, i am looking for a sub 900-1100 watts rms, t hat wont blow my struts out..lol. i have always owned a pair of subs never a single. I have gone through Kicker L'7's, audiobahn, JL, but these were all way too heavy, so heavy it was ridiculous, i could feel my car suffering. So, now, i know i wont have the potentiol to have a spl record breaking system or naything like that, but i just want a decent bump at half the weight, any suggestions on what sub, amp, box...fiber glass or plexi glass maybe? thanks!!
Alpine SWS-1222D 12" Subs (2)
Alpine V12 MRD-M605 Mono Amp (1) 600 watts rms
Alpine CDA-9851 Headunit
My system pounds really hard. I love it. Each of my subs can take 600 watts right now they take like 250+ each and its so loud. If you were to get 1 sub and the amp I have it would pound really hard. I would suggest that, they dont cost tooooo much.

If you don't want "strut blowing weight" from your system, but come on I know our car's aren't exactly high end but give em more credit then that. Then it doesn't sound like you want a loud system. Simply because a single sub setup for 900 watts+ isn't going to have a dinky ass motor structure. Cut your power down to 500 watts and you can invest in a whole range of good subs. JL w6v2, type rs, etc.
I have a good sub with warrenty still for sale..but its a beast...email me..dragginframe22@hotmail.com..phil
even a 100 pound box is only going to change your 1/4 mile speed by at most 1/10th of a second. and that my friend is something you would never be able to feel.
that being said. sandmanx hit on the other point, any sub built to handle 1000 watts is going to be beefy.
i mean that body kit on your car is going to weight as much as a sub and box. so just go find u something that can handle 1000 watts and dont be to concerned that one sub weights 2 pounds more then the other.
