Anyone here use Hifonics amps?? I read on car audio forums a bunch of people running these amps. I'm gonna re-do my system and looking for a good powerful amp. Anyone have reviews on them? I'm looking at getting the bx1605d.
they are a bit overrated but they are still good for the price u pay

A guy over on sounddomain had his BX1500d metered and it only put out 1100 or 1200 watts. I know I had the BX1000d and it only had like 60 amps of fuses I believe which is only like 800 watts.
I'm running 2 BX1800d's and I love them.

they are vary good for the price just a little under rated. if your lookin for around 1600 watts go with the db2005. if your really lookin for some clean power look at the Zeus or Hercules line of amps they do there power and then some. im about to pick up a XX Colossus and run it around 1/2 ohm.
Well I'm looking at the bx1605d to get around 1000@4 ohms which is good for me, but can wire it up for lower impedence in the future. thanks for the reviews.
I've owned two hifonics amps, and had a buddy who had one as well, and there were more than a few problems with them. If you open them up and actually look as well, its a piss poor soldering job inside. It was great cheap power, but I'm not taken aback by their reliability.

hifonics went down the pooper. someone else bought em out and used the name to sell product, quality went WAY down as a result.
Overall they are just a POS.(mainly the brutus line) The most common symptoms I hear involve the output transistors blowing up (literally).

Any suggestions on a better quality amp than??
For around the same price?
Power Akoustic maybe?

hifonics is a good comp. look at the gen X line, i have not seen a comp. make a real good lower level amp in a long time. they are made to be cheeper then the top of the line amps so yea they are not going to be perfict. no matter what amp you go with someone is going to say something smart about it unless you spent 2 grand on it.
i might not go with the Colossus and might go with 4 of the 2005 hehe more power and olny a little more

Bringing this back, I was also looking at a Kole audio amp which I believe is made by Power Acoustik anyone. Any experience with those. I really need a new amp. I'm tired of running this bazooka piece of @!#$.
I run power acoustik amps a 1600 peak (800 rms @ 4 ohms mono) for my solo baric and
a 400 watt peak (100 rms @ 4 ohms x2) to my components . Can't say I've had any problems with em. The sub amp tends to run a little hot but it's never shut off. They're a bit overrated but for the price can't say I can complain.
