Yes folks, I must be an idiot but I'm really not interested in upgrading to a high powered system that shakes the earth. I'm old and deaf anyway.
I have a 2005 Sunfire with just a factory am/fm radio in it and all I want is to replace it with a compatible factory am/fm/cd unit.
Hopefully this will let me play cd's without losing chimes ( some people in the family are prone to leaving the headlights on) and still keep the car original equipment.
I'm not sure what years are interchangable so any info in that area would be greatly appreciated.
So if you have a nice newer factory deck sitting on the shelf that you took out when you put your new system in drop me a line and let me know how much you want for it.
The unit would have to be able to play burned cd's. I may be wrong but I think most of the newer ones do.
I'm located in Kitchener Ontario Canada
Thanx

i have one from an 04 cavalier ls im thinking of getting rid off (new system) so let me know if you want it and price.
Thanks for the reply.
Things are getting a bit more complicated.
Someone has mentioned to me that to install a deck from another vehicle I would have to get a gm dealership to activate it because of theft codes.
If that's true I guess I had better find out what that is going to cost me first.
Hey I work for a dealership if you have any questunions just give a shout also I have a 2004 am/fm cass, cd player that is sitting in my garage if intrested give me a shout. Depend's where you are at I might help you out. give me a shout.
Almost all pontiac and chevy decks will work. They're all basically the same. You will need one of the newer one's with the theft lock. I would get an 03+ if you have an 05.
You will need to "program" the new radio to your car. To do this, install the radio (quick and easy, you can figure it out). Then put the key in the car, turn it two clicks. This is the run position (dash lights all blink on and such). Do not start your car. Your security light should blink for 10 minutes, then go off. Do not interupt this sequence, do nothing at all.
BTW: This same procedure applies to changing out any of the security stuff in the cars (ignition, ecm and stuff like that). If it fails, remove the batter for 20 minutes, then try again. You'll know if it failed because, when you turn the key to start, the engine will turn over, but will not run.
