i have an XM roady 2 and have horrible reception problems can any one give me advice on where/how to run the antenna wire. or something to boost the signal. right now i have it run from in between my sunroof and windshield, down the drivers side of the windshield, thru the firewall, up thru the dash behind the gauges and the wire comes out one of the vents. any help is really appreciated.

As long as the wire you are using is grounded antenna wire you should be fine to run it anywhere.

The wire should look basically like a cable tv wire, the wire in the middle, with the silver sheet stuff around it.

If your not using that kinda of wire, or something like it, get some and use it.

If you are, or are still having problems, try taking this silver sheeting stuff thats in the wire, and grounding it to your car body.

What are your reception problems? I have Sirius and have my antenna placed in the same place as you and never have reception problems unless I'm at a covered gas station or some other place where the antenna is obstructed. The cable is ran down the passenger side of the windshield and comes into the car through the boot that all the waires running to the door go through.

Is your antenna in the middle of the roof or is it closer to one of the sides of the the car? Mine is dead center about 3 inches back from the windshield.

I have the Roady 1. I ran the cable just like you described exept it comes out at the center console cup holder (made a hole for it) I have no problems what so ever (unless i'm stuck that damn St. Louis traffic under a bridge)

i think its better running it through the back of the car, not as much interference from engine/dash junk n stuff

Ok... I didnt the wire was hard-wired. That wire on the antenna looks like it has little to no magnetic sheilding (like a coxial (cable TV) wire).
