Hey anybody know the wiring schematics on an 02 cav z24, most importantly looking for speedsense wire color it should be in the harness for the radio due to speed controlled volume
Speed sense is transmitted through the class II data bus....there is no actual VSS wire behind the radio....but here are the rest of the wiring colours>>>
+12V DC Switched must go to fuse box or Ign. Harness
+12V DC Battery(Constant) Orange Radio 10 amp Fuse block behind lower left side of dash
Ground Black
Illumination Gray
Left Front + Tan
Left Front - Gray
Right Front + Lt.green
Right Front - Dk.green
Left Rear + Brown
Left Rear - Yellow
Right Rear + Dk.blue
Right Rear - Lt.blue

Better to not mess with anything that has to do with the vehicle speed sensor. If something should happen to disable it you have destroyed your car. The vss is attatched to the odometer should it be disabled your trade in value is $0.
allright if you cant tap into the vss wire then why do you have to hook up to it for navigation units.
i wanted to know the location of the radio behind the radio so it would be a little easier i know where it is under the dash
loudsound appreciate your help
woolever im not sure where you got that idea but i think your a little off.
if tapping into the vehicle speedsense wire will screw your odomoter then how are people bypassing the speed sensor to get past the speed limiter and not screwing up there cars.?? Also do you have exoerience in this field woolever or is this just what you think.

they are messing with the odometer... its considered odometer tampering which I believe is a felony if your caught and also any car that has had the odometer tampered with drops to the value of $0 dollars
allright if this is the case and it voids your warranty then everyone with an aftermarket navigation unit is guitly of odomoter fraud. I see your an automotive technician darkstars, do you forsee a problem with stripping the insulation off the vss wire and and tapping the speedsense wire for an avic d1 navigation unit onto it without disconectting the wire.?
If you tap into it, no problem. Nobody is gonna notice.
For you guys with 2002 - up cav and fire, your VSS wire is found at the PCM at the pass. side shock tower and is located at position 34 of the blue connector, green/white wire and is 4000ppm
for everyone else 2001 - down you can find the VSS green/white wire(4000 ppm) at the 80 pin connector beside driver shock tower position 16
