Yes i was wondering my friend knows how to put systems in cars hes done it before and will be helping me but i was wondering if ne one here knows where i can get or find a step by step walkthrough on putting an sub and amp in a car. I know what i need for the most part but just need help on how to install it.
i dont know of any walkthrough's..but ive done it 3 times in cavaliers. not difficult.
1) run appropriate gauge power wire from the battery for the amp your using. route it under the trim panels in the drivers side, and through the rubber grommet on the firewall.
2) run remote wire from deck down the drivers side.
3) run RCA cables (DO NOT BUY CHEAP CABLES) on the passenger's side.
4) connect these wires to your PROPERLY MOUNTED amplifier.
5) make sure your subwoofers are fully tightened, in a proper enclosure, and wired properly. if you need help with this, rockfordfosgate.com has some good diagrams about 2ohm, 4ohm, yada yada.
6) connect the woofer's speaker wires to the amp. use appropriate gauge for the amp your using...i never reccomend smaller than 14, but it can be used.
7) start with the gain set ALL THE WAY DOWN..put on some heavy bass sound, like lil' jon, or preferably BASS MEKANIK at a hz level yoru box is tuned for, and adjust the gain until there is no interference and clipping, then turn it down slightly below that.
8) DO NOT use the "loud" setting on your deck, DO NOT use "bass boost". these only add distortion, and will kill your woofers faster.
enjoy.
