if your port needs to be 20" long....and your box is only 15" deep. you can put a bend in the port and turn it inside the box to get your length.

so the sealed box i have know is pretty damn close to what i need i think, its 32L X 14H X 14D now its a wedged box so the depth is 17 on hte bottom of the box and 14 on the top of the box
so it be 30.5X15.5X13.5 divided by 1728=3.69 cubic feet...i subtracted 1.5" from each measurment to make up for the 3/4" MDF

can i jsut make 1 big port 5X12.5X20???or is there away to make the port the entire height of the box then make the lenght smaller?

i was doing some calculations and this is what i came up with
inside diameter 31.5*14.5*13.5/1728=3.56 cubic feet
outside diameter 33*16*15

and i found out teh cubic feet of the port that kicker suggests and its .3616 cubs and i want teh port to be the same height as the box and the closest i could come up with was
2.125*14.5*20=.3566 cubic feet OR
2.25*14.5*20=.3776 cubic feet
is taht rihgt about teh ports?am i way off in my thinking? lol

Ok, the more/less port area you have the longer/shorter the port length has to be. Download a program called WinISD and it will tell you everything you need to know about designing ported/sealed enclosures. It will even give you theoretical response/SPL graphs for differant enclosures and tuning frequencies.

well 1 guy designed a box tuned to 35 Hz 8)
the dimensions are for the OD if anyone is curious

I don't know if you've decided on specs or not, but i wanted to let you know one thing. Ports aren't designed based on volume. It's cross sectional area and length that matter. If it were overall area you could just make a port 3/4'' deep (e.g. the depth of MDF), and then make it whatever size would create the appropriate volume, and not worry about having an actual port. That doesn't work.

BTW, what volume is that box above supposed to be??? With just looking at the specs i'd say its in the neighborhood of 3-4 cu.ft. I thought you were looking for a 2.25 cu.ft. box?

well the box is almost done i still have some sanding/prime/paint to do,heres some pics before the prep work

ohh ya and after all this it DOES NOT fit in my trunk but i think my friend hammer will have to come into play lol

the box 3.56 cubic feet, the 2.25 cubic feet was per sub for the biggest ported box

according to your drawing...it looks like it will BARELY fit. did you try sliding it in through the back seat?

that's the only way it's gonna go in. you'll have to trim the metal on the sides too.

the guy that did my install had to put my box in through the back seat and also had to take the back seats out and bend some metal piece (i think ).. and i forgot to take my spare tire out of my trunk too, which sucks.. but at least i know no one is goin to be able to steal my box

x2 ^^^^

I had to cut my box in half to get it into the trunk past the lid tensors, then glue it back together in trunk. The box will never come out of the trunk unless it is demolished. =\
