I'm trying to splice my new Autoloc hidden antenna into the old wire so I don't have to pull my dash apart and plug the new one in. This one has a red wire that needs to be connected to a 12v source. Why?
Isn't an antenna just a length of metal and wire that receives a signal? Why would it require power?
Thanks!

Probably an amplified antenna to make up for it not being able to pick up as good of a signal when it's inside the car.

^^^^^ Hit the nail on the head. I've been wondering how good the radio would be with it. Please update us and let us know. If you would just connect the blue wire from the car harness. It is labled power ant.
i had the autoloc...it sucks. metra hidden one is 10 times better.

Where is this harness with the blue antenna wire? Hopefully in the trunk?
Thanks!

^^ Should be behind the radio. Its your antenna signal wire that you would use for a power-retracting antenna.
I havent had any person experience with hidden antenas, but I have had experience with AutoLoc... Their stuff seems to do its intended purpose.
