Not so good smell

So i got a kicker L7 15" about 2 months ago, and my car stays in iowa but i have been in minnesota for college . I got to come home 1 month ago for a break and i installed it then, thats when i broke it in for 4 days, for about 8-10 hours on really low. Yesterday i came home to iowa again and started playing it, ive been playing it for a while today but after every few songs id turn it down for a while. It started to stink like that hot electrical equipment smell. Is this because its breakin in or because im playing it too harD? Im really worried cuz i havnt even really played it that much, but i was playing it hard for a bit.... Thanks guys

i have a Pioneer Premier TS-W2000SPL sub. i get this smell when i play it hard too. i have my gains set right, i'm pretty certain my amp isn't clipping. but i bought the sub second hand, maybe it wasn't broken in correctly in the first place. you would think that the amp sending clipped waves to the sub would cause this.. where are your gains set at? sounds like you have a similar problem to mine dude. i know the smell you're talking about, it just doesn't smell "right".. heh. i'm sure your L7 must have a pretty high RMS rating, so overpowering more than likely isn't a cause i dont think.. maybe someone can enlighten both of us!
