alright, so here's the deal. my g/f wants to buy me an alpine deck for my birthday. i have an '04 cavalier. i was told that i would need to purchase a $90 wire harness because of all the stuff that runs through the stereo of the new GM cars and trucks. but then i was told by someone else that i wouldn't need to spend $90 on a wiring harness, that there was a way around that. so basically i guess it comes down to this.

is there any way to get around the $90 wiring harness? any way cheaper to do it that won't screw up everything in my car?? please help... because i really don't want to have to spend $90 on a damn wiring harness for my deck. thank you in advance.

Yea you don't have to buy that harness. I just put a new deck in mine last night & you door chimes or anything like that won't work, but everything else work's fine. Also the radio don't stay on when you turn the key off till you open the door anymore if you don't use the harness. That's about it though
