i have a 98 pontiac sunfire 2.2 manual...every once in a while when i put the parking break up the drl light flashes..and i lose my drl...if i shut the car off and turn it back on..it seems to work again...(doesn't always happen)...also sometimes when i turn on my headlights the driver side is dimmer than the passenger side..if i click the highbeams on then off..this usually solves the problem...i noticed that when this happens i lose the DRL as well...what the heck is going on?? thanks
The DRL light flashes when the DRL's aren't working, and the DRL's won't work if one of your brights it out. That's with a cavalier at least, which has two different bulbs for brights and regulars. So i'm not exactly sure what's going on, but i'd put my money on the problem being fixed if you change your headlights. It's only a few bucks for new lights, and worth a shot. If the problem persists after you get new headlights, i'd say it's either a relay, or the wiring is messed up (might want to check the wiring for burns/cuts when you replace the bulbs).
^^ Some cavaliers have one bulb with two filiments for bright and normal.
You have no idea what you are talking about - shut up.
All I can say is chack your headlights and make sure one is not burnt out.
All the forward lights are wired together in such a way in the computer that a problem with one causes problems with others.
DRL's "strobing" and not working... and occasionally a CEL after this... Is a sign of a burnt out headlight.
One headlight being dimmer then the other is also a sign of a burnt out headlight... go figure.
The reason they look the same brightness whn your high beams are on is because those are different filiments. If your normal headlight is burnt out, it will not effect your high beams, because they are two different filiments.
Long sotry short... Check your bulbs. And please oh please DO NOT touch the glass aprt of the bulbs.

both high and low beam work...but sometime it will be dimmer than the passenger side...if i click the high beam on then off..the light returns to normal..at low beam
