I just bought a 97 cavalier. I have one remote, but it only opens the trunk. I have read how to reprogram it and will try that tomorrow.
My real question is: Can I go on ebay and buy any GM keyless remote and use Lenko's writeup to program it.

no you need one without the panic button. 95-99 had the three button and 00+ had the panic button

I have never seen the remotes at the junkyard. lol Maybe somebody beat me to it. Can I also get a power window switch that way? lol
You are going to have to match the numbers on back of your old remote to the match new one.
After that you can use the instrcutions in the FAQ to reprogram the remote
