Here is a short story with a lot of questions

I have a 04 Cav. I just had a system installed profesionally. I got 2 subs with an amp pushing them. I have 4 x 6 plates in the doors and 5 x 7 in the back along with an extra set of tweets up front along side of the side miror adjuster. Those speakers are being pushed by a 4 channel amp. I have the stock head unit still in. Which I love so I won't be replacing it. Anyway the system sounds fantastic. I had it installed 2 days ago and I think my front 4 x 6 door speakers are blown already. The installer told me I shouldn't have any problems with the speakers blowing from the bass cause there is a crossover in the amp. Which there is and it is set on highpass. But my speakers are still blown. I did not turn the bass on the head unit past halfway and for the most part it was less then that. What I really would love to be able to do is have it set some way that I can turn the bass on the head unit all the way up and my fronts and rears will get no bass. How is this possible. Apparently the crossover in the amp can't catch all the low freq. going to the speakers. Tell me if this will work. I will get a pair of f-mods for those of you who know what they are. They are a sort of bass blocker that goes on the end of your patch cables before they enter your amp. Crutchfield has them for about $30 a pair. Second I will get a pair of normal bass blockers that get attached to the speaker themselves. So that should give me three different ways to stop all the low freq. First the f-mods before the amp. Then whatever low freq. gets by them I'll have the internal crossover inside the amp then if they still get by that one I'll have the bass blockers on the speakers. Will this work? Someone please tell me how to stop from blowing my speakers. I really want to be able to turn the bass on my head unit up all the way. Unless that's not possible give me some other suggestions. Thanks

yeah it just sounds like you need the bass blockers, should take care of your problem, also the stokc head unit isnt really helping much, it sends out signals not as clear as a good quality cd player... no offence to your stock deck, it does fine with the rest of the system being stock to produce a stock sound

if it was profesionally installed you should take it back to where you had the install done and resolve the issue, any quality company will stand behind their install. if they are shady they will try and screw you over, and then you know not to ever go back there.
