Bass lines are distorted. Help?
Thursday, June 09, 2005 7:25 PM
I was readin one dudes post about super bass-y songs, and someone said lil jon(sp) has good bass lines. Everytime i play li jon songs my speakers are super distorted at high volume. Like ill turn it way down to where the bass isnt loud at all and the distortion goes away, but the bass isnt hitting hard at all just really low sounding. Its mostly the really low freq. of bass that distorts my speakers. I.E. "get low" yeah it sounds like arse, if my amp doesnt go into protection, which seems to be a reocurring problem of low freqs. of bass. Also it does this on BLuberry YUM YUM by ludacris. i just wanted to name a few songs that ppl might be familiar with... what should i do

BTW I have a

Kenwood KDC Mp-628
Lagacy 800 watt amp 2ohm stable sorda as i stated earlier
and 2 10' Swiss Audio Subs
Amp is wired down to 2ohms
I also have a pioneer 7band EQ that i use for my subs, it has its own SUB EQ on it, i dont use but the lowest thing on the 7 band and the Hz and the level of the subs the rest i dont know how to hook up

hope you can help me

Your amp is going into protection because it's getting too hot. Try turning your gain down. Gain isn't a volume knob. If your gains are set too high it's a wonder you haven't blown those subs yet.

Cody, my man... preach on brotha!

The gain control IS NOT A VOLUME. If your subs aren't loud enough for you with your gain at about 3/4, buy better stuff. I've never had my gains set even close to above that, and everyone I know that does, have turned their 200-300 dollar subs into expensive magnetic paperweights.

another thing to mention is your running a low quality amp at 2 ohms, generally its not a problem any more. but low budget gear is going to have more distortion then high quality gear, and when you go from 4 ohms to 2 ohms your distortion will double. so thats problaby also helping to kill the sound.
