circuit city install problem

So i have an 05 chevy equinox, and had my amplifier installed at circuit city. I had a problem with the truck not turning off when i pulled the key out, so my dealer said it had something to do with my amp being hooked up to the ignition switch, so they replaced the ignition switch and in hooked that wiring. i never heard of that before, i thought the amp just needed to be hooked up to the batttery, which it still is, yet the amp doesnt power up. any idea on how to get my amp back up and working without going to the ignition switch. any info would help, thanks

The wire that PROBABLY was wired to ur ignition was the remote wire.

Follow that back to your amp, and see if it goes to a "remote" or similarly labeled connection. It will be a single connection, just one wire. All the ohters on the amp should have a pair (+ and -) so it should be easy to find.

This wire needs to go to the 'remote' wire coming off your H/U.

You can also use a toggle switch to power it, jsut use 12v.

This basically is your amps power switch, but it does not go in-line of the power wire.

Well i work at best buy. It probably wasn't something circuit city did. Answere these questions. Did the car not shut off when you pulled it out of the bay. If not, how long after did it start happening? Car dealerships don't know crap about the 12 volt industry and will blame anything on a best buy or circuit city install. I bet you ignition switch went bad and instead of saying it was chevy's fault they pointed the finger at someone else. Any questions e-mail me at kassdog108@aol.com. By the way i'm an installer.

unless the typical circuit city idiot ran the remote wire to the amp from the ignition circuit, and at the amp it sounds as if the wire was maybe touching the power terminal from the amp, that would keep the igition circuit powered on all the time
