Ok, i was going to be buing a new system for my car, and a freind of mine has a full set up of new sony x-plods and i was wondering what everyone thought of them. IT includes 2 10s, 2 6x9s, 2 5s for the doors, and an amp. All that for 400. what u guys think??

Those 6x9s and 5s can be had at walmart for around $100 for all 4. So basically you would be paying $300 for two sony explode 10s and a cheap amp. That sir is worse money fscking then best buy would do to ya.

NO!....i had 2 12" sonys....but i got rid of them this past weekend and went with audiobahn
...........hits 1000000 times better....sonys arent horrible in my opinion..but for the price just go with something else...they arent the greatest

My opinion of it is that sony head units are decent for the money, you can do ALOT better for the same money in other brands but they arent horrible, i have a sony headunit in my car, soon as i have the cash its going somewhere else quickly but its decent for what it is, audiobahn isnt much higher class honestly, over priced entry level stuff, if you only have 400 to spend shop around some online sites, you take a risk with warantee work but its not horrible, i've got about 50 bucks in my sub and amp and box, i built the box myself called in a favor for the amp and bought a sub on clearance to get me by, doesnt vibrate the neighbors but the in car sound is good.
Personally i would check out a company called ADIRE AUDIO, their drivers(speakers) are among the best i've read on so far, the prices are great for the quality and they sell a wide range....also get rid of the 6x9s on bass heavy tracks they will distort and try to tear themselves apart, get a good pair of 6.5s and put them in your rear deck your bass will improve alot over what you have now.

my personal preference for audio gear is alpine, their decks are solid and their subs pound nicely, pioneer decks are good to.
DO NOT BUY ANY AUDIO GEAR FROM WAL MART its total crap, their prefab boxes are junk and have more dead spots than most people have dead relatives, i had one for my 10 at first, i sealed every surface with silicone sealant, stuffed it full of polyfill and it still sounded like crap and leaked, the boards are so crap they just won't seal, get some good mdf and silicone and wood screws and get to work it'll pay off in the end.
whatever you do enjoy your system, run nice large power wire, if it calls for 8 ga wire run 4 ga, if it calls for 4 run 2, always feed the amp a steady supply of power you'll have better lows and overall range that way.
the system i'm putting together is going to use 2 adire audio tempest 15" subs in the trunk, a memphis 500 watt amp(another great brand memphis audio) 0-2 ga power wire to a distribution block then 4 ga power wire to the amp, 0 ga wire to another block with grounds and 4 ga ground to amp, then 2 adire 6.5 inch drivers in the doors, followed by 4.5s and tweets in the doors, i'm gonna leave my rear deck open to let the subs breath more, the final stage of my car i'll run a memphis bell amp that pushes 4x75 to the inside speakers and 1x600 to the subs( adire audio subs are very effiecent, from all the installers i've talked to with 600 watts on my subs i should be pushing over 120 db before cabin gain in my car, so probably somewhere around 150 in the car.
the total on that setup should be around 600 for the subs and amp and wire, and around 500 for the in car, its alittle more but for the money its great.

Only probles is Adire is in the middle of a build house move and aren't selling subwoofers yet. And after recent events I wouldn't give a die to those people. And I hate to say it man, but 2 tempests off of 600 watts is going to come close to 150. You'll be knocking 123 before cabin gain, but remeber it's a trunk car, so You can only expect at most 15db of gain.

, that was what a couple installers were trying to tell me numbers sounded just alittle high to me as well, i'd rather push as much wattage as possible, but they claim anymore than 300 watts to the subs would be overkill, and is your problem with adire a personal problem I.E issues with customer service or company employees..or have you had quality issues? cause i really dont want to shell out 150 bucks a sub and have it melt down.

The overall direction that the company is going in is rather sad. They have totally abadoned their online market in pursuit of a dealer system. Sad thing is, it's their online customers that helped build the company up. No, their subwoofers are absolutly awesome equipment and you will not be dissappointed with it. Just make sure they have the subwoofers instore before you purchase them. Dan wiggins the owner of Adire has yet to release a date that the new subwoofers will hit the market.
