custom wiring setup, need info on wattage!

I'm planning out my next stage of thump, right now i'm laying out the wiring for the amp so i have a rough idea of what i'm doing before i start, i'm also brainstorming my new boxes and amp rack layout as well as extra lighting and such.

my first step is to run at least a 4 gauge power wire to my trunk with a distribution block for any accessories i might run, i'll be using at least 1 4ga wire for power to my amp, and a second wire to a second distribution block for all my power accessories in the trunk, such as lighting and actuators and such, i'm wanting to run around 50 leds in various locations around the amp and subs, i'm wanting to turn these on when the amp powers on, my thought is to run the turn on lead to a relay, then run a power wire from the accessory block to the wiring for the leds, will this work? can i find a relay that wont cause issues with the relativly low power output of the turn on lead? if all goes as planned i'm hoping to have my trunk done by fall as i have extensive plans in the works and a small budget to play with. thanks in advance guys.

to my knowledge, all the turn on lead would do in the relay, is tell the relay to connect your power circuit, so I would think it would work just fine. Definately hit some pics of the progress when you start!

That will work just fine. I'd suggest a switch for those LED's though so they arn't on all the time when the car is on.

Another thing to consider would be to use a MOSFET power transistor in place of, or to aid in the turning on of the relay. I know they're not used much in cars but with the right setup a MOSFET will be far more efficient than a relay. The thing you have to worry about is noise (from car > transistor, and transistor > car) but this can be eliminated with a diode and some capacitors.

You can probably get a MOSFET at Radio Shack, or at any online electronic component shop.

the leds will only be on when the stereo is on, and when i get it all worked out and finally get glass to fabric you guys will see why the leds need to be on all the time the stereo is on. I'll give you guys an idea of what i'm wanting to create.

The whole trunk is going to be glassed, the subs are going to sit towards the front of the trunk(back seat) the amp will either be directly between them or towards the back of the trunk alittle bit, i'm then going to glass a skull thats 8 by 10 in size to cover the amp up, the eyes will be plexi on which i will have leds shine to give them a glow, then i'm going to add a fog machine behind yet more glass with fans to keep air on it( yes i've thought about fire hazards on this one) from there i'm either going to run 1 or 2 plexi tubes to the sides of the trunk to where if i can get the skulls worked out the way i want i'll have a big skull on each side in glass panels with led eyes and from their noses/mouths the fog will spew out, the whole thing will take up all the space my trunk has pretty much but when its all done the way i want it should either drop your jaw or knock you over .
