hello i needed some quick help i have some questions everything on my alarm is hooked up except my remote start.. i have the diagram for both the car and the alarm.. i just had a couple questions
1) the yellow wire from the alarm or IGNITION 1 output seems to be already connected.. the rest on the diagram are not.. i dont get it? why would this one be connected?..
2) the alarm has 2 red wires saying to go to 12v input... why 2? and where do they go the battery?? mainly why 2??
i have a 1996 Z24..the wiring is as follows
Constant 12v RED
Starter YELLOW
Ignition PINK
ignition 2 WHITE
ALARM IS AS PICTURED AND ALSO..
VIOLET=STARTER
RED=12v INPUT
RED=12vINPUT
YELLOW=IGNITION 1 (already connected??????????????)
PINK=IGNITION 2 OUTPUT
BROWN: ACC/HEATER OUTPUT (WHAT IS THIS FOR????? i would imagine my alarm has a setting where it turns on 2 a certain temp then turns AC off?? i dont know i have a temp gauge with my alarm tho already hooked up)
so i would assume..
from Car to alarm....
YELLOW-VIOLET
RED-RED
PINK-YELLOW
WHITE-PINK
WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER RED??
Brown?? who knows thanx in advance this will help me greatly!!!!! IS there any issues that may arrise ect?? please let me know thanx
@!#$ forgot picture

i just remeberd.. i will most likely have to bypass passlock.. and also i have a 5 speed (yes i know dangers ect i never leave car in gear anyway..).. i would have to by pass the clutch wouldnt i?? this maybe harder than its worth.. hell if i know waiting on any responses...
i dont know much about the starter with the manual tranny but to bypass the passlock just spend the extra money and get the dei bypass module, i messed around with one of those cheap ones for a long time and never got it to work consistently. The dei worked the first time and every time since.
I think the two alarm power inputs are for hooking it to two seperate power sources like a second battery in the trunk or a backup battery in case someone tries to disconnect your main one, not sure but thats what i thought it was for.

all u need to bypass the clutch is a magnetic switch....thats actually pretty easy from what ive been told...by the way this is coming from my best friend who works at circuit city as an installer and has been doing this for years...
The 2 red wires coming off the alarm have to be connected to a power... It has nothing to do w/ backup batteries-- They say youre supposed to connect them to different power sources, but I just connect the 2 wires together after the fuse, and tie those into the ign. harness...
I dont understand what you mean when you say the one wire is already connected.. Who installed the alarm? I thought you were installing it- did you already connect that wire? Please elaborate.
The accessory/heater wire is used so you can power up your heat or a/c when the car is remote started- it allows the accessories to work with the key out of the ign, so your car is all warm and defrosted in the winter etc etc.. It will not shut off @ a certain temperature- it will just power them on.

ok.. i said my whole alarm is already hooked up.. everything works but the place that installed it would not install my remote start as it is a manual tranny.. so they left those wires uphooked.. but the yellow one is hooked up to something i dont know why but it is.. anyway how would i go about hooking up the passlock thing? how do u hook up the bypass module? .. also how exactly do i bypass the clutch im a little confused.. thanx
For the car to remote start, both ignition wires have to see voltage...
Even if you aren't using the remote start of an alarm- the ign wire still needs to be hooked up, so the alarm knows when the car is actually on. You don't want the alarm going off when youre driving down the street, right? The shop probably just hooked up 1 ign. wire & left the other disconnected, because you weren't using the remote start.
I have never bypassed a clutch in a J-body - but the easiest way is to just cut the 2 wires running to the clutch switch & twist them together- or just use a jumper wire between the 2.
I'm not familiar w/ the bypass module- just follow the diagram in the manual for your particular application.

i tried to get ahold of u on aim

.. so the yellow ignition wire that is already hooked up is for the alarm itslef basically and is normal thats its hooked up ok .. so is this as simple as getting the bypass module, bypassing clutch and then connectiong like 3-4 wires???.. seems easy but the alarm store that installed alarm will not fix it if i @!#$ it up.. they scratched my car when they did it and i bet they hate me cuz i made them pay for it.. anyway i guess ill try this sometime soon.. im just nervous..lol i still dont get the 2 12v wires.. im thinking i can twist them and run a 12v.. but why would there be 2?? instead of one.. ill loo kfor the clutch wires to try to jump them..
The 2-12 volt wires are used to power up 2 different circuits inside the alarm... Sometimes its used for the parking lights or the remote start etc- Just there to pull in additional current so it doesnt have a problem cranking the car etc...
Just attach them both to a power source- no worries...
Just go through and connect the 2nd ign. wire and any of the other major wires that arent wired up- starter, heater etc.
The module usually gets a power, ground, and an activation wire- the activation wire is usually a negative pulse sent out from the alarm. Sometimes the ground wire doubles as the activation wire- meaning the module only sees ground when the alarm sends out the pulse before remote starting... I dont know which wire on your alarm is a negative pulse before start- it varies from company to company. Sometimes, you can just ground the activation wire to keep the module active all the time- basically bypassing your factory security altogether...
Theres other wires coming from the module for the passlock- usually 3 of them... I beleive one of the cars passlock wires gets cut and run through the box and the 3rd wire connects to the cars other passlock wire. The modules instruction sheet will give you more details. Then theres usually a dial or a set of pin switches used to dial-in the correct resistance to let the vehicle start...
If you post a pic of the alarm install manual- I can probably tell you what wire to use for the module.

alright ill see what i can do for a picture.. i remember i ent to best buy once they told me the DEI module i would need but i forgot the number do u guys know the model number so i can get it off ebay or something?? .. here is the guide its about 39pages tho have fun and thanx

<img src="http://www.hyperlighting.com/555LGIHX.jpeg"> that looks like a bunch of extra wires.. how hard is this thing to hook up ?
i once heard that if you can use a spare key on your car there is no need for a passlock bypass>???.. i also see it o na site "with special security (chip) ignition keys"
well if it helps i have made spare keys to my car and they all work.. so i dotn think i have a "chip" although i have heard several things.. ie. i need it anyway.. and some say i don need it if i can use spare keys in my car.. ????
The spare key is used for a bypass module.. Basically, a key with a computer chip in it.... Any car w/ this system won't start unless it sees that key in the ign... That particular kind of bypass module uses a valet key or an extra key- you stow it away inside this box underneath the dash somewhere-- It has a ribbon cable that comes off it- and you loop it around the ign. cylinder, allowing the car to start.
You don't have chips in your keys- passlock works with resistance..
If you are going to use a module, you would connect it to the yellow wire on the 10 pin connector-- If you look @ page 7 of the alarm manual-- This wire provides a negative output 4 seconds before the remote start initializes- this will activate your module.
Here is a link to a document that shows you how to bypass passlock w/ 2 relays & a resistor... Lemme know if you are unable to view because of the PW.
