I want to remove my back seat and put a custom enclosure back there. I need to know how many subs should I have to make it sound good, Ive never done this befor, all of my system have been in the trunk. I am thinking 4 Alpine type r subs. What do u guys think?

You can have 1 sub sound good. All depends on the vehicle, the enclosure, the sub, the wattage, etc...

Beat it like it owes you money

oh and the watts are

RMS- 500
Max- 1500

Im going to be using an alpine 605 amp on each sub. The amp is rated at 700watts @ 2ohm.

what are you asking, if your first post, u want to know what will sound good. the next post you say your using 4 alpine subs. whats the question? are you wanting a good layout or design? or are you just unsure of weather it will sound good or not?

Im wanting to know if the set up that I want would sound good. Ive herd that it takes more subs to make it sound good when its in the cabin of the car and not the trunk.

I am going to do this at some point too. My plan is to glass the whole rear deck down to the floor. 6 12W6s (old version) with 2 1000/1s and a 450/4 running 2 sets of components up front. Amp rack and 2nd battery will be in the trunk. I'm also going to have a DVD HU, a PS/2 , and an active crossover.

WOW darkstars that almost exactly what im doing. I might have to do six type r's now.
I also doing a 6.5 type r component set in the door and the v12 605 amps to all the subs and the v12 75x4 amp for the speakers. All of the amps will be mounted in the trunk with my extra battery

right now I have type R 12's don't tempt me hahahah I have 4 of the brand new style 2 of last yesr model, I already have V12 amps I still need a second one for the other 2 12's (1000 Watt RMS pushing a pair of 12's each) and I still need one more set of compnents, so I have a majority of what I need one more amp, one more set of compnents, and the 2 batteries, the install is all gonna be custom. If your at the bash I'm 90% sure it will be done by then

Darkstars: I actually work at best buy(It sucks) installing stereos. Well alpine is doing an accomadation thing that you print a form from the store and order the stuff that you want. It takes 4 weeks to get delivered, Well anyway. I am getting

6: 12" type R subs ($80 per)
6: V12 605 700watt amps (180 per)
1: 6.5 Type R component set (100 per)
1: 6x9 type R speakers (60 per)
1: V12 75x4 amp (300 per)

Ive been thinking about doing 2 component sets but I wasnt sure if I would notice a difference. But Ill let u have that so ppl dont get us confused.lol. and Ill keep the 6 12" subs.

how are you doing your set up? Im doing the whole rear area, In fiberglass. Its gonna start from the rear deck down to the ground or atleast to the beginning of the seat.

Then in the trunk im doing a couple amp racks and gonna hide my battery and circuit breakers and stuff on the sides near the tail lights.

I don't know wxactly how it will be done yet, planing has been done but its gonna look as factory as possible wrapped in matching dark graphite vynal so it blends in with the interior, everythign will have remvoeable covers to hide all of it, I haven't decieded on where the amps will go but I want the trunk space free if I can.

and its gonna sound liek @!#$ with what you have planned, one set of compents up front and rear 6X9's to go with 6 12's... you will hear only bass

Forget the 6x9s, you'll never hear em, and get another set of components for the front.

Yeah I guess It would be really stupid for me to get 6x9s since I will never hear them.lol. I guess I will just get another set of components or 2.

or you could just turn the bass down. u wont need more subs to make more bass, if you seal the trunk off from the interior, two subs in the interior should be louder then if you just had two in the trunk. with that much power, youll be doing instant damage to your your ears, so one componet set would be fine, just have a way of turning the bass down. if all u care about is being loud, just stick as many speakers as u can fit wherever they will fit. do you plan on competing, or anything? that could totally change how you install everything.

I just want to be different, No one around me has 6 subs in there car so I want to be the first.
