i had 39,260 miles on my 2001 sunfire and i just noticed that now it reads 49,260! wtf?! i know i didnt drive those 10,000 miles, cause theres a sticker for my next oil change on my window and it says 39,600 was my next change. what caused this?
i had a problem with my transmission the other day and i lost all my oil and had to patch a hole up and then put more oil in. maybe thats it?

It really does that???? the all eights may be a voltage overload. but in general thats a real problem.

my tranny had problems, i sent it in for repairs(small accident, lost tranny oil. didnt notice and drove it like that... ended up waxing some disks) and when i got my car back, my odometer was correct again. before i sent it in my interior lights wouldnt turn on either(hvac/guages) and they work now too. i guess my faulty transmission was the culprit?i can see why the odometeor was acting weird, but my interior lights? they have nothing to do with the tranny... whatever, its fixed and i'm not asking anymore questions
lol
my odometer reads all eights, sometimes it will say trip and be blinking all sorts of nonsense like its on a trip.... i just give the top dashpad a nice firm hit, and it goes back to normal....lmao

Try getting a new cluster. The ecu stores mileage....so when you put the new cluster in it will reset to whatever the ECU has stored. If the ECU added 10,000 miles and not just the cluster....then I guess you might be screwed.

This is true? My light isn't working on my odometor & I talked to the dealership & they told me that there isn't a seperate bulb so I would have to buy a new cluster!!! I didn't know if that was right or not?

is what im thinking.....cuz i dont see how the ECU would just randomly add 10K miles to the car, and if it did, good luck explaning to the new buyer that the car acctually has 10 thousand less miles lol
thank god i have the 97....last year for the non-digital odometer
