JL hands down, no contest, all the way, and any other over the top saying to make it sound like a bigger deal than it is!!! then again... im kinda partial to JL. but theres a reason for that

obviously not, i have 2 12" A series, lowest model there is, single voice coil and they beat as hard as my 2 10" jlw3's
i have heard xtant subs in a cavalier, not sure which exactly they were but they were the best i have heard.. that is until i heard jl's. i have jl w3's and love em. as far as im concerned i will buy only jl as far as subs go.

I'm a JL fan...and have never been disapointed by JL...although I have never heard xtants subs. My advise would be to go and listen to both of them. Which ever one sounds better to you...BUY IT.
Also...why are those your only 2 options?

never heard or seen xtant subs installed in a car but my friends tend to have a tendency with the big expensive 1001 amp being a better paper weight then amp

But they're JL 10"s. That should at least equal 18"s of something else.

I have 2 JL 12w6's I love them.. Xtant makes good products too.... Like anything else it all depends on what you are looking for. Is it for a ported, bandpass, or sealed enclosure? Look at the spec's learn what they mean see what is best for your application. How much room do you want to lose how many are you installing? How are they being installed. Just a few questions to think about? Well I would see if there is a local shop that has both of them see if ya can get them to let you sound test them in your car? some shops will let you do it others wont.
