i have the astrostart alarm/remote start 5204 series.. i got 2 remotes, one that is a 2 way led pager ; 2000feet range, keyless entry trunk release.. all that jazz for 700 bucks and oh yes its lowering my car insurance 10-15% when i go and renew it in august

Any of the better model DEI (Viper & Clifford). I have the Viper 791XV. Which ever alarm you decide to get make sure the install is perfect. Without a good install an alarm is worthless. My brain is actually installed from the top of the dash instead of under it. The whole dash has to be taken apart to do anything with it. I also added Battery backup, several piezos, 555L bypass for remote start, and a proximity sensor.
yesh i would def. make sure that u get it professionally installed. im not to keenof viper myself; just based on the fact that a few of my friends got the 791 series and they have all had problems with their alarms..... but thats just my opinion..see if the installer will soder (spelling) the connections just so u wont have a problem with any loose connnections down the line eitherl..

791xvr hands down. I am a MECP certified installer and solder all of my connections. I have never had any problems what so ever. I have a 98 z-24 and the $2000 worth of equipment I have in the trunk is well worth the $500. And also being how noby cares anymore about car alarms going off this on e will page you so you know.

there are many alarms that will page u, and even show u what sensor is being violated. so does my astrostart and it even vibrates as well.. i guess it all depends on who installs the system for you

I have the Matrix RS2 and enjoy it thoroughly, I have had it for almost 3 years now with absolutely 0 problems with it. However, I would really enjoy one of those pagers that notifies me when the alarm is going off......
just an idea for some of you, i had my car broken to recently. I bought my viper alarm/start 1 month before the pagers came out.
Anyways, the bastards just open the fuse box under the hood and pulled fuses until my sirens stopped.
So, next time id put a cable tie or a metal strap around my fuse box so it cant be opened.
Just 1 more lil thing to slow down the pricks.

The Viper 791XV with the first gen style remotes(silver in color) suffered from a couple of design flaws. The first was two separate circuit boards that were surface mounted-these surface solder connections have a tendency to break from your typical usage(throwing your keys on the table, dropping the remote, etc...). The second problem was with the vibration feature. The motor assembly was pressure fitted into a mounting clip, which would shift to the side after a while of vibration and catch the underside of the transmitter coil, causing the coil leads to break. If you do go with the 791XV, make sure it has the second gen remote(blue). Also, you may consider the Audiovox APS-996A, which has all of the features of the 791XV and a better operating range, as well as more outputs if you decide you want your security system to do a lot more things(window automation, door pop solenoids, remote neon lighting, etc...)
