Hey guys i got a kicker L7 dual 4 ohm voice coil sub. And i have my RF amp
My amp
I never quite got a straight answer outta my other topic but that wasnt quite asking this question either. Will i be able to run the sub off of one channel in a series or paralell setup? What is the way with this amp i can get the most outta the sub?
Kicker says that
at paralell its a 2 ohm load
and series its an 8 ohm load.
So im assuming i wire in series.
But can i just run off one channel and be fine? thanks for replies.
And also I was looking at this Mono 2 ohm stable amp by boss
Its really cheap and its 2 ohm stable would this be a better way to go? For more power?
Boss amp
thanks in advance

Boss = pawn shop/ flea market subpar junk.
Couldn't you run the RF amp in stereo, with one voice coil per channel...?
480 or 400 per channel

Don't get Boss.
I feel that their sound quality isn't that great. Your amp is pretty strong I would stick with yours. (Although
I will never run a Rockford)
You got the concept right but you wouldn't run it off of one channel. From what that site was saying, your amp is rated at 800w at 4 ohms, and 400w at 2ohms per channel. I don't know if this is RMS but i will go at it like it is.
If I were you, I would wire it in series witch would give you 8ohms at the speaker connections to the amp. From there, bridge the speaker wires on the amp and that would drop the impedance down to 4ohms. That sub will be seeing the 800w.
If you wanted to put less power to it you could also wire it in parallel at 2ohms and run it off of a single channel. That will be giving you the 400w to that sub.
Thanks. I didnt think the sub could take 4 ohms i thought i was either 4 or 8 only. And another thing. Even though i dont see it anywhere my amp can have an 8 ohm load?

Well the sub alone is wired at 8 ohms. when you bridge it on the amp it will drop back down to 4 ohms.
* the sub can take either an 8 or 2 ohm load is what i meant to say. And i meant to ask Can my amp take an 8 ohm load?

Yes, but the power output pry will be lower.

I don't know about all this other craziness in this thread but....
If you bridge the amp and wire the sub's coils in parallel....you'll be running 2 ohm's off of a single mono channel. Thats usually how people wire a single 4 ohm DVC sub off a 2 channel amp.
Never mind...I see what you're saying now. I can't believe that amp isn't 2 ohm stable in bridged mode.
