Direct port Ecotec?

im considering doing some direct port N2O on my ecotec, basically because im told its a bunch safer than the standard wet kits. basically what im curious about is, if it is that much safer than wet kits, what are some of the problems that direct port could run into?

like i hear on wet kits with puddling and blowing the intake off. im assuming this would totally alleviate that problem, and also are there any negatives to going direct port as opposed to wet?

is there anything negative about direct port at all? basically i want the most effective way to get some more power, without sacrificing the engine's reliability to do it. anyone have any thoughts on this?

any help is appreciated

only bad thing about direct port kits is the install as far as drillin into the manifold. but yeah its worth it.. but idk for sure if it gets rid of the puddling and backfire problems.. its still putting fuel into the intake manifold. so idk for sure.

the way i understand it, you bypass the puddling because it is shooting down into the manifold, instead of flowing over and down it where it catches some, but i could be totally wrong. thats just the way i thought it was explained to me.

but thanks for the reply. anyone else have opinions?

What about use a Holley NOSzle system on the ecotec? Will they fit the injectors with out clearance problems?

I have been considering a direct port set-up as well and if any one has a NOSzle Direct Port EFI system installed.

Nope they will not.. the fuel rail will sit higher... and not bolt into place.....

So I guess the only way would be to tap the intake manifold?

yep, and from what i hear... the intake mani on the eco is very thick so it won't be a big deal

just an idea to throw out here but if you look right below the TB on the Ecotec manifold theres a round area almost looks like a hole should be there? could you tap into that and spray into the air path basically

04 sunfire auto, mid 15's n/a, and still going

Im sure you could, but i may not be as effective, may end up spraying in out the top of the TB, just have to watch where you point the nozzle exit.

Also you would have to make sure that part of the mani is thick and strong enough to hold the nozzle in under pressure, would hate for that to blow out under load.
