I got two and a half sets of studded winter tires with my car. 4 new tires, 4 with very light use, and 2 with most of the studs gone. I like them a lot, they definitely help out, we have particularly icy conditions during winter here. I live in northwest ct which is considerably worse than the rest of ct in the winter. I don't mind the cold but with the large number of small rivers and ponds we have the air usually has more moisture. Because of this I am contemplating buying at least one pair of chains and at 45$ a pair I can't say I could make them cheaper. I am just unsure of how well they stay on. That weird hook doesn't look too promising.
