Does the 2200 sfi have a bypass

Built in to the engine for bypassing the oil filter? I'm just curious because I put a new K&N oil filter on my car and also put in Castrol Edge W/Titanium too with my oil change I just did. Thanks a whole bunch!

Not sure, but I'd guess that it's pretty much a standard design on just about everything these days. Especially since a lot of companies offer 100k mile warranties.

I thought I read somewhere that it did but couldn't figure out where and I would think they would anyways, have the bypass built into the engine itself.

Nearly all gm motors, that I know as far back as the 80's have the bypass built into the oil filter adapter. But it generally only opens when the oil is cold and thick, once it is warm it should be all filter. On the trans am the adapter has a black plunger deal that is spring loaded. Where I want to say it open if there is 60 or 70 psi at the filter.

For example http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/_/N-5yc1s;jsessionid=72E5D89D460A417EB794BD8BACA4E900.diyprod5-b2c9?itemIdentifier=28648_28199_0_ hit close on the prompt for vehicle selection. The red circle should be the bypass on that one. As to if the 2200 has one I would assume but never even looked.

That's why I buy only filters without a bypass because of that and never really looked to see but now I know I was right that there is a bypass built into the engine. Thanks a lot and greatly appreciated.

That is why I try to find filters without one because I think it is unnecessary to buy a filter with a bypass when the engine already has one.
