3400 Upper engine mount

For anyone using the 99+ Grand Am upper engine mount with their 3400 swap. May I highly suggest using the Billet N-body mount from WOT-Tech.

Found here

You would think that the 99 GA mount will work. And it does, for a while. But this is motor mount number 2. I was starting to have problems with my trans seeming like gears would randomly disappear, then come back after a while.

This is the first thing I noticed was a big split on the back side of the mount:

Then I got it unbolted and picked up on it:

And this is what it looked like when we got it all out. (Thanks to my lil brother for helping me out with it)

Install of the new mount is pretty easy, and there are instructions on 60degreeV6, which help out a ton. The feel with the new mount in there (which I forgot to snap a pic of, maybe later I will) is awesome. I don't feel vibrations from it. It actually feels more solid than the stock GA mount did, by a factor of about a million. Wheelhop significantly reduced. And just all out a better feeling car.

I also found my EGR valve was eating a hole in the hoodpad. Since Megasquirt doesn't run the EGR, it was removed.

Wow. I never liked those mounts, but seriously, that thing is a real POS. It's good for GA/Alero owners, or anyone who used that mount to swap, that WOT-Tech did come out with that. When they first released it, I thought it looked very nice.

I'm still waiting for some input from guys using my new mounts for the swap, but AFAIK, no one has installed them and driven on them yet. There are about 10 people who have the set, but I haven't got any feedback yet.

I've thought about picking up that lower from you. But mine doesn't seem disfigured or anything yet.

You'll get feedback from me eventually, but I'm extremely busy during the summer because I run a business franchise from may-august. Business is usually slow after the first couple weeks of july, so hopefully I will have the car up and running sometime in august but I can't promise anything. I see your mounts sitting on my desk next to my tg lsd everyday and it bothers me so much that I won't be using them for atleast 2-3 months . Oh well, atleast the longer it gets put off the more money I'll have to dump into the project.

I have always liked using the 94-95 Grand am mount. Put in a j-body urethane insert and you are set.

Looks good. Makes everything else look dirty, though.

Ehh, you can clean the engine all you want. But if it's sat in a junk yard with no hood on the car it was in, you're only gonna get so far. Especially on the plastic pieces. The actual structure of the car though, yeah... it probably is dirty.
