Well since many now know since I popped by at the DRJ opener in Whitby I will get some pics and info up.
Real quick note and will drop it; this was not the build my son and I were planning, twas to be turbo'd as well but, with the theft incedent, we just went NA. (for now)
I must thank Andrew at Carcones, from Aurora Ont. I went online in search of a low mileage motor.
Found this one with 11K only
Emailed Carcones and then talked to Andrew.
Told him what it was for and what I needed. I had asked him to leave as many connectors etc on the engine as possible.
Well she turned up the next day with EVERYTHING!! I mean complete harness right to PCM and UBEC!.
Great Price and AWESOME to deal with!!!

I have more pics on my Camera, but will start with the Cell phone pics first.
Engine clean up (not too much to do) and my son trying his hand at polishing.

Polish engine mount bracket
TCE Crank trigger that is needed for the 7X reference not on the 3500
The main difference between the 3400 and the 3500 is not the displacement, it is the design of the heads/intake and manifolds!!
Stock 220+ Hp
All out ported 3800 heads still do not flow as well as stock 3500
65mm TCE Throttle body to match the 65mm intake and flow

TCE Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator and GTP Injectors

Of course we needed a better clutch so Bully 4 puck was installed
.
As well need more fuel flow so a Walbro pump installed

Lower engine mount made up and welded.
and some final touches and clean ups
Some how I ended up with the wrong trans lol, had one for Eco and not 2200 grrrrrrrrrrrrrr, my son and I spent a week cleaning and sanding and painting it, just to have to get a different one
April1 10:30 pm, Darren cam by and we had engine out with in a few hours.
Buy 2pm Friday, I was about to mate up engine and trans to find out wrong bellhousing lol.
Darren located one and I sent him and my son out to retrieve it. (gave me about 5 hours to clear and clear coat every bolt I could find, I have a clear coat addiction, just ask Darren lol, even subframe bolts were cleaned and polished and cleared.
Here she is in the engine bay

One thing I actually really impressed with, NO WARNING LIGHTS
All bulbs in cluster work but non illuminate.
I kept ALL accessories including Airbags/Abs/Traction/Egr/EVap and even the Rear HO2S.
Only codes Deleted were Trans and Passlock.
Using a 2001 Imp 3400 Pcm
And for FUN
Lol, here is a pic of the GM Tech2 after I have been programming

Just to note, that 3500 does NOT have 220+ hp stock. It's rated at 200hp, 220 ft/lbs. Still a decent amount more than the 3400. The combustion chamber is a bit bigger, and you have nearly LS1 sized valves in that head as well. In addition to the better intakes. STOCK, the 3400 UIM flows better than the 3500 UIM. But once a little port work is done, it's 3500 all the way. (I'm really hoping you're porting these)
What i'm really curious about is what modifications were done in the PCM to get all the electronics working properly. And wether or not this sort of thing has to be done with a TECH-2, or if HPTuners can accomplish the task. Seeings that this is one of the biggest problems for everyone doing the swaps.
Also, this makes me realize that I need to get off my ass and go install those 3500 heads/intakes that I have. And see what all I can't do til I get the engine to start to outrun the factory fuel pump.

my 3500 run good on a stock 3400 tune minus the auto and passlock. i have the timing advanced but gotta back it off cuz its takin a few times to finally start lately.
Quick, I should have some pics of the mount trimming.
In fact I messed one up some how lol.
First try I tried to cut 3/4" off with chop saw, but didn't come out straight. Hard to hold securely due to its shape.
The second, we marked off 3/4", cut close to that line then used a grinder to fine "tune" the line.
SHO, Sorry, you are correct, 200hp not 220.
I spent so much time in dynomation and DD messing with the numbers I forgot true stock hp (220 would be the VVT version)
As for the PCM co existing with the rest of the Cavs electronics, the main thing here was selecting a set up that would work.
I used 2001 Impala.
ABS/Traction control and all gauges worked as they should. The one obstacle was the Airbags.
SIR dtc B1001 Option Configuration was set and disabled SIR and illuminated the Lamp.
When first booting up the DERM (Airbag module) checks the VIN of the BCM then PCM to see if they are the same as the one stored in it memory.
So I put my Cavs Vin in the PCM (PCM does not care what Vin it has, this is just for SCanning devices, see prev pic) and the SIR lamp went out.
Now, unfortunately, this can not be done with HPT as they use the VIN for licencing.

Everything has a price. These only have 4000 miles and are really waiting for me to slam them on.
But at the same time, ive been considering getting rid of the car. But I dunno for sure what i'm going to do. The car is rotting out underneith, i've though about finding an 00+ with 2200 5spd (hopefully one with no engine), and moving the engine to that.

The 3500 is quite a step up from the 3400/3800 series. LMG and Headgaskets are much less prone to failure than they are on the others. Just stay away from GM Deathcool in it to be on the safe side though. Nice swap. No warning lights, impressive.
