** sorry if the wrong forum but it's a 3rd gen question***
what's up , folks....Looking into getting a header for the beater...plan on running 2.5" all the way and getting a high flow cat...What do I need to watch out for when getting a header for our cars ? and what would you recommend going with...I have a '96 sunfire coupe..2.2 ohv, 5 speed....My exhaust is not to far from a replacement anyway so I figure I'll just replace it with something else.....oh..and whats a good muffler besides the Magnaflow to run...was looking into another fart can but kinda gun shy since mine has gotten me 2 tickets in my town...Thanks !!!

well the 95-97 header is slighty different than the 98-02 header if i remember right, and i run 2 fart cans on my sunfire, i havent gotten in trouble with the law yet lol
Pacesetter is the best bet for the 2.2 OHV and same thing with the exhaust cat back they both have really good flow in my opinion and help the engine breath a lot better try those

Not worried about size much, rich...worried about sound..could look like hammered dog-poop just as long as it sounds decent

Chambered...so your saying look into like a flowmaster or similar ? Not questioning your taste or knowledge just wondering

well not all fart cans sounds bad, it depends on the shape, size, and what its paked with, the 2 i have now are paked with fiberglass and they sound really good, the canister style fart can i had a while back was paked with steel wool type stuff and it sounded like @!#$, you just have to find thats good quality, and if i were to get a chambered muffler it'd be magnaflow
great advice guys.....thnks...mine must be stuff with the steel shyt...

magnaflow is not chambered, its straight through. flowmaster are chambered.

magnaflow doesnt make chambered mufflers, only straight through mufflers with packing of some sort, be they oval or round they're all the same design.

well then, there not really any different than a fart can, they just sound a little better
runnin a 3A cannon style muffler and deleted resonator on my 99 2200. sounds great and only gets louder the more my right foot gets angry.

Really Leafy then what the hell is this.

I like the way my Pacesetter catback sounds on my LN2. However, my engine is built/cammed, and I can hear the cam loping at certain rpm/throttle so that does make it sound better than it would otherwise. lol.
I'm pretty happy with my n1 style with fiberglass packing. To each his own, but for a 4-banger my 2200 has a nice tone to it. And it's loud as all hell, which is what I demand. The only complaint would be the drone on the highway but the only way to get rid of that is to get crazy with resonators.

sorry you're right. Its definitively not their most popular style muffler.

Pacesetter cat-back blows. Expect it to rust out, quickly
Pacesetter header is probably the best for the 2.2OHV tho. Just make sure you throw down the extra cash for the ceramic coated one.
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
seems like an issue with all their stuff. Their headers rot out super fast if they're not coated.

What about throwing some hi-temp paint on the black painted headers?
