I am only looking to swap the shortblock from a 98 2200 into a 97 2.2. I know about the higher compression pistons and the potential for 12:1cr , this is for a race car so thats ok. Not concerned here with A/C or emissions.

Yep as far as i know it should all interchange, and as far as i know all you need to do is swap the pistons for the high compression but i bought the importperformanceparts.net kit and it has worked wonders for me at 10.5:1 compression also their camshafts are amazing
