when you can get a 2.4 to put out more than the LSJ all motor, why in the world would you want to?

I hear that if you use the LSJ head and crank with a 2.4 block, rods and pistons it will make just enough power to be in the elite forum for only 300hp and up cars. This is just rumor though as it may only make 298 hp.

A S/C L61(2.2L ecotec) will match the S/C 2.0L ecotec(LSJ) in performance, plus the L61 swap isnt a wiring nightmare.

Im positive that you get a N/A eco run with your "awesome LD9", we just dont have crazy people eco people to do it(ahem, PJ, ahem.....)

the 2 litre is gonna take alot of wiring to work (as Tinkles mentioned)... you'll have drive by wire to contend with in addition to actual engine management. if you're hell bent on an eco motor, go l61 with the gm charger... or you could look into one of the few companies making m62 mani's for the 2.4.

brad... you can build an n/a 2.4 to match the 2.0's stock output... but you're talking modded vs. stock. drop pulley sizes or throw a harrop (with supporting mods) at the lsj and your n/a 2.4 build will be left in the dust.

In other words... NO. And HELL NO. Now die.

The problem is with the LSJ is that everyone wants a rediculous amount for them usually WAY over 1k dollars.

You will need - an complete eco wiring harness and F23 trans, external crank trigger, 2002-2005 TB for drive by cable, 2002-2005 eco fuel rail/lines for the return style system, jbody intake system (no maf for us) and whatever clutch/flywheel combo PJ is using. Not to mention properly sized fuel injectors and tuning.

Let me know how it turns out.

...

Dont forget about that impossible to get M62 TB adapter.

02-05 2.2 eco is a plug and play affair.. make sure you get one from a jbody to make your life really easy. I have a how-to in the 3rd gen forum.

unless you have a very good knowledge base of ecotec engines, I wouldn't bother trying to drop in the other ecotec engines (2.0s/c (LSJ), 2.4 (LE5), or the 2.0 turbo (LNF).
if you have to ask, you can't do it, its as simple as that.

I missed this...

I would be doing it if it wasn't ridiculous amounts of money for very little yield. All the machining, balancing, custom parts ordering for what? A little over 220whp, maybe some more depending on how crazy you get? And for what? To beat some people on these boards time wise and lose to everything else at the track? Who cares.

I still think if I punched the LSJ out and put very large pistons in it with high compression, it would be the highest horsepower n/a ecotec ever seen in a street car.. but if anyone wants to donate to the cause, feel free. The dollar per horsepower number is very low, and one of the only reasons I don't want to do it.
