just curious if anyone has swapped their 2.4 for a 3.4???
I need to get a wiring harness lined up to buy, this way i'll be able to swap the 3.4 and everything in and out faster
I'm doing the swap in a couple of weeks and need this before I bother starting lol if there is anything I should know that anyone encountered, like with the fuel guage, please let me know, I would rather have all sorts of input then nothing at all.
I am a fabricator by trade, so mounts should be no problem, just the wiring harness will be the issue as I am a steel tradesman, not an electrician lol
anyone interested or know someone who can hook me up, please let me know!!!!

the harness isnt to bad mostly take the 3400 harness take all the loom off and figure wat goes were. sensors mostly go to the pcm, and are feed from the c100 wich will need to be spliced into the harness plus more its mostly one by one wire tracing for the most part just time consuming .itsgonna be hard to lay out A harness without a engine bay to match it to. gonna be difficult to know lengths thing need to be.

I was just curious if you happened to look at the sticky at the top of this forum.

No, it's ok, don't waste another post for the month, I already know the answer.

good luck no one will tell you theres too much that could go wrong and no on ewants to be responsible for someone elses messed ups if wiring isn't your strong side pay to have it done

why is it that we have to spend hours on a harness and get things sorted out and others expect us to tell them exactly what to connect and how to. do you have any idea how much labour goes into a harness

first off buds, you can sit here and ridicule me all you f'ing want, I asked a question, and a simple "get the wiring diagrams and start reading", would of been sufficient, DICK!!!!
not all of us have daddy's to pay for our tech tools, or have a garage lent out to us by our work, or whatever the situation maybe, therefore making it difficult enough as it is to get @!#$ done
so what do guys like myself in that situation do? they ask guys whom have built these sweet ass rides a little "how-to" with their weak points on the build, and get chopped down at the knees, inspiring them to twist that metal of theirs out into your cars worst nightmare on the street!!!!

brother I have the know how for this whole thing, so don't take a higher-than-god approach with me, when asked a question about your ride, or any others ride, remember, it's a question to help out a fellow gear head, not @!#$ your mom

Congratulations, you just made the internets serious business!

Now they will respect you.

Well, if you're going to be like that.

.... hopefully your daddy gets you some tools. I mean, it is christmas and all. A pair of dikes, soldering iron, a hair dryer, some heat shrink tubing and a haynes manual, and a bit of time in the driveway should suffice.

The only thing you're getting ridiculed about it not reading before hand. I mean, it's not like it's always at the top of this forum and everything. You pick out what you want to do for wiring and you go from there. Had you searched the assloads of posts that have people posting asking about wiring you'd have seen what happens, and you'd have learned that there are many different ways to wire this up.

Instead, all you got was butthurt.

where in this post did you ask for wiring diagrams??? if you could kindly point it out for me that would be greatly appriciated DICK.

as for the daddy comment the only thing my dad was part of my car was driving it when i completed it, i wired it myself plus wired a few other cars so you wanna be a jacka$$ about it go f*ck your self i'm up for helpin people but i'm not gonna give you a step by step on it. i get PMs saying how do you conect this and i respond to it but any PMs i get out of you will go to the appropriate folder. been around here way to long to have the pacients to deal with people that make comments like that

well merry christmas, daddy got me my tools!!!! well actually it was a hooker and a bottle of jack daniels, but that's some tools ain't it??? lol jk

now, what would make you guys think I haven't ready anything about this? I have read everything, but the contradictions all of you's have in your other conversations and on one anothers topics, that is why maybe you should read a little bit more as I asked to have someone price it out for me, and let me know, because I am going to PAY to have this done, as I DON'T WANNA @!#$ IT UP and you guys already know what to do

so is there anyone out there who wants to do this????

I dont usually do this, but being that I have done two v6 swaps in J's and am working on my third. Plus quite a few non j body swaps.

I have spent hours going through wiring diagrams until my eyes hurt. Ripped off miles of wire loom and soldered tons of connections. Its what goes into these swaps, just like actually bolting in the motor and hooking everything up. I personally wont ( and I doubt anybody else will) give you such a crutch to get your wiring done. We have so much time and effort into our swaps why would we want to give you the info that we worked so hard for. Not to mention all the variables like car/ecm/bcm/engine.

Sorry if this sounds like an attack but nobody is going to do the wiring for you. So grab some diagrams and put on you reading glasses. Or find somebody and pay them to do it.

First off, I apologize for any misunderstanding, but please understand where i'm coming from, because I have no clue on what goes where when it comes to wiring. like do I splice all of the wires from the 3.4 ecm into the 2.4 plug at the firewall??? or do I splice all of the 3.4 harness into the 2.4 harness, match for match???? this is very difficult for me to wrap my puny little brain around

Most of your sensor wires will just stay in the v6 harness to its ecm. Where most of the splicing happens is at the c100 connector (at the firewall of the sunfire). You have accessory power wires, serial data, and some other important things that need spliced in between the two. That is about the extent of what I can do for you over the computer, so I would highly recommend finding wiring diagrams for both cars.
