Hey, I'm pretty new here and I had a few questions about the 3x00 swaps. I'm In the process of gathering parts to complete this swap. I've been researching over and over again reading up on your guys threads and I do have to say there Is alot of great Info!
well, I'm looking to go the 99 and up Nbody upper mount with a fabricated lower mount.
I've read that I can retain my 2200 5speed but will need an upgraded clutch.
I'm looking to buy an 06' g6 3500 engine for the swap. Everything from the sticky looks to be quite straight forward and I had a question about wiring.
I'm pretty sure my engine comes with the complete harness and I can get my hands on the pcm from the g6 as well.
Should I use that pcm or should I go with a 3400 pcm from a malibu or impala and just get it reprogrammed/ delete the auto codes, pass lock and vats?
Does anyone have any info for the 3500 wiring? Much appreciated guys!
I think there's only 1 guy that's done a 3500 swap. I have no idea what it's going to take to interface all the wiring into the j-body. You might have to downgrade some and use a 99 Grand Am PCM for example and use the TCE external crank trigger for that 3500. I'm sure you can get it to work with some wiring mastery. I bet I could get it going, would take some time and effort, but I could get it going. But my swap is done, so I have no need to try.
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
i did the 3500 swap and i needed the 99 grand am fuel rail, injectors, knock sensor, coil packs, exhaust manis, coolant lines (hard nines too), water neck, oil press sender, balancer (for reluctor wheel needed for 24x cranck sensor), harness, pcm, a/c delete (modified). u can use the 3500 cam sensor, and map. u will need a dif throttle body because 3500 if fly by wire. i used a 95 lo q4 tb because it bolted right up but i plan on switching to a lx5 tb wen the adapters are avalible again. and i needed a tce external crank trigger. um i havent done a 3400 swap but the 3500 wasnt that hard the 3400 and 3500 are alot alike. read the 3500 swap sticky in pushrod performance on 60degreev6.com its long but theres alotta info in there.
u would use a 3400 harness and pcm the the 3500 is alot more complex. the 06 is i think the last year they made the 3500 non vvt. the wiring was most of a 99 grand am harness with the cav c100 and some misc pigtales spliced in.
yeah, 3400 it is then. I'll have to save up a bit more for the 3400. I will probably not attempt until spring since I will have alot more money. Plus I figured It would be better off to gather all of the parts first for the swap In and then worry about everything else. I tend to get a little exited and move to quickly lol. I've been doing quite a bit of research on 60degreev6.com as well. No garage and It's winter out. I did an engine swap In It last winter and that wont happen again. Thanks alot for the Info guys.
