You never post @!#$ like this without pictures. And you never talk about your successful swap without video!

Do you have the ability to tune on it? The VSS differnce between th 90 transmission and with the 99 computer I'm thinking might throw your speedometer off. So you may need to make some adjustments.

right now i have th 1990 hm282 tranny in there and it has a cable speedo so now i have no vss. i have a 93 z24 tranny made by nvg im gonna swap in wen i piggy back the cav pcm to run the gauges and it would be the same as a quad four nvg swap. right now i have no gauges.

ICM wire, track that down from the module and try it...

There is a white wire that comes off the 3x00 ICM which is specifically for a tach. IIRC, the 99 GA PCM does not use it, so this may work to get the signal to the factory PCM so that it will run the tach. Somone correct me if I'm wrong here.

Quick question Ray: What method did you use to level the engine? It's hard to tell from the pics.

i lifted the cav mount side up a inch with a peice of 3inch square stock.

im havin a lil prob. i have a few codes and it runs rough. i had one one for the maf but turns out wen u actually plug it in it clears that right up. but i have one for the map (think i have a loose wire or bad feed) but i have one for a tranny problem (musta missed somethin tuning) and one that says aux power input and aux power output? could the tranny or power codes be causing problems? i have the codes at home that are more specific.

the engine sits level must just be the pics. if i put a straight edge agross from fender to fender its even all the way accross and its A FULL 3500 not a uim or top swap the WHOLE ENGINE is out of a 04 malibu. i figured if a 3400 can be swapped into a cav and a 3400 can be swapped ito other 3400 cars why not just go for it.

yeah something doesn't look level for sure, alt and front valve cover show its out maybe its the camera angle why didn't you just cut down the engine bracket would have been less work then welding in a peice or steel.

you have some wires there that aren't loomed either might wanna get those covered up

also i thought you piggy backed the PCMs why are you running a water temp gauge if you have it piggy backed???? factory gauge should work

The engine might be level, but it may be back too far on the passenger side. The pics look way to far off for it to be the pic. Did you take measurements so that you could position the bracket in the correct spot front to back once you placed it on top of the spacer? Not trying to give you crap or anything, but if that engine is not sitting straight, it will most likely cause your CV joints to wear prematurely, or worse. A quick test is that if the engine is properly positioned, you should be able to install your AC dryer and the alternator will clear it. If not, you should seriously consider re-mounting your bracket.

the motor does set level i can see how it looks cocked in the pick but im sure its not. the mount is back in the same place it came from its just bad pics. the wires arnt all loomed yet because i havent piggy backed yet so just holdin off on wrappin it all up till the 2 pcms r done. the coooloant temp is just wat i stuffed in the hole while i waited for my volts and air/fuel to get here. i think i have a loose wire for the map sensor cux the idles all over the place and its thowin a map low input code. i could of cut the mount to work but for some reason liked the spcer beter.

LOL. Actually, while I appreciate the plug, at this point it would be more work for him, since he welded a spacer in.

I'm hoping to hear from the shop today that they're done. I'm really hoping to have them by the end of the week. I'll post updates in the GP when I get info.

Ray, as long as it's all properly positioned, good deal. I just wouldn't want to see anyone put this much work into a swap, and then have problems because of an alignment mistake. I hope you get your electrical issues taken care of soon!

Hey man, it's better to catch it now than find out the hard way when something goes wrong when the car is on the road. No need to apologize, like Matt pointed out, we're just trying to help.

By the way, just a bit of advice when trying to position the engine: don't use a level unless you've first checked the level of the engine bay where the car is sitting. Taking measurements from points on the car is the way to go.
