i just cant seem to get my 3400 swapped cavalier to start . i disabled the vats with hp tuners. dont know if it worked or not and about the automatic transmission codes i have to remove, would that cause a no start? need some opinions i wanna get this car started. tried everything i can think of.

There sure are a lot of people having starting issues lately, Does the engine turn over?

whats it doin
auto trans wont prevent it from starting
if i'm gonna guess by your other post i would say your starter relay or crank fuse is hooked up incorrectly seeing as you have a 97 and 97 didn't have those items (relay will be there if you had the recall done) but if you didn't wire the grand am harness corectly so that hte PCM sees a feed you will never start it
by the way if your running aftermarket gauges get a 98 Oldsmobile silhouette 3400 PCM (check the pinouts make sure there the same) 98s had no theft and that way you can tell if its a VATS thing or a wiring. if its wired right that PCM will start it right up
i used a 98 GTP program to start mine as it had no theft and the 98 regal did

it turns over and the injectors are firing but there is no spark

swap the PCM you may have something disabled wiht HPTuners try the 98 computer it will run on the grand am harness some sensor may not but the important stuff will if the 98 olds van PCM doesn't start it you have an issues somewhere

Whip out the good ole test light and see if you have power to the coils, and that the plug that goes to the crank sensor is plugged in.

check ur crank sensor, there r two two pin pluggs on the icm. the sensor goes on the passanger side of the icm it is possable to mix them up. and make sure it has a 12 volt feed use a multimeter not a test light because not all the pink ignition wires r 12 volts. and vats wont disable spark just injectors.
the one on the passenger side is a 2 pin plug but the one on the driver side i though was for the 7x ckp sensor..its a 3 pin plug but only 2 outside pins are used..thats the way i understood it. because the yellow and purple wire coming from the 7x ckp sensor has to be coiled atleast 9 times per foot and the 2 pin plug on the passenger side has a ground and the other wire foes to the ignition and ignition feed. if it is wrong what i am say then i have it hooked up wrong
