Just as it states I have an 01 5spd and the computer is in the wheel well.. It needed a new engine harness so the one I got has the computer that mounts on the strut tower like the eco's do so my question can I use this computer or not.. Even though it did come off an 01 also.. Thanx alot

umm not you can use that harness but you have to use the PCM for that harness your computer wont plug into it so get an 01 computer and plug it in

I've never seen a 2001 with the computer mounted at the strut tower... and I've seen a lot of J's...

You may have the harness from a newer Ecotec motor... if that is what was swapped into the older car. Or the harness from a 2200, but I'm pretty sure all the 2001's had the computer in the fenderwell, regardless of engine. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong here... I've never owned a 2200...)

Add to that... mileage is stored in the BCM on the 2000-05 cars. Not the PCM... so you can swap the PCM without worrying about the mileage changing.

What engine is in your 2001? You don't have an 01 listed in your registry, so I'm confused.

01 2200s had strut mounted ones i think i think the 2.4 was the only one that didn't

i know 02 eco and 2200s did and 2.4 was still fender

Well, I stand corrected then. I'll have to look closer at the car next time

Now that I think about it... I think the bracket was always there in the fender well... but with the engine & tranny pulled, the computer was likely pulled off the strut tower beforehand... which could be my source of confusion...

My 01 originally had the 2200 with the ecm in the fender well, not the strut tower. I thought that the echo's were the ones that had the ecm on the strut tower, starting in 02.

Late model 01 and 02 2200 had them on the strut tower like the ecos I got it all hooked up and everything but now the theft system light flashes it turns over fuel pump kicks on and everything but will not start.. Any ideas I hate 2200's lol
