V6 swap question

Has anyone found a way to run the gauges in an 00+ Cavy when swapping to a 3X00? I have read that you can run everything but tach and fuel. Is this true? Also I was thinking if a bcm from the donor car (say 00 GAM ) is compatable with the 00 cavy to run gauges? thanks ahead of time.

The Impala flash from a 03 or 04 (those are the only years I know for a fact, but I'm sure it's a wider range) will run the entire gauge cluster correctly.

The only issue you'll run into would be if you're running an auto tranny, because the program will not run a 4t40e tranny properly.

I am looking at the 4t45e from the gt GAM. But that is what you probably meant.

He meant the 4t40e. Because you can run the 3x00 on the 4t40e that comes in the j-body. But the Impala flash won't run it.

The Impala flash will run the 4t65e, but will not properly run either the 4t40e or 4t45e. Not entirely sure what the differences are, but the transmission will not shift properly with the Impala program. I'm not sure if anyone has tried the 99-04 Malibu program or not, though. That would be set up for the 4t45e, but I'm not sure about the gauges. Somewhere on one of my hard drives, I've got all the serial data description files for the GM ECMs from the early 90's to about 2003. I'll see if I can find them and compare the Malibu and Impala data streams. I still have been unable to confirm any way to edit the data stream other than manually decompiling a bin file. I'd like to work on this some more, but I've got so many things going right now that I just don't have the time. If the data stream description files can be reflashed, it wouldn't matter what ECM you use, because you could just flash the J-body description onto it.
