Lower mounts for 60 degree V6 swaps
Tuesday, September 08, 2009 7:29 AM
OK guys, I've started this instead of having it lost in the upper mount thread. I'm working on a lower torque arm mount for the V6 swaps. I've got the design done, and my first quote back, but it came in higher than I expected, and I'm waiting on one or two more quotes.

Preliminary pricing for these, if I don't get a lower quote, would be $100 shipped. These are 1/4" steel with black powder coat. These will be strong as hell, and have two bolts to the end of the block like the factory N-body one, as well as 3 to the oil pan. I highly doubt anyone would break one of these!

Again, I'm hoping to get the price down on them. My target was $75, but we'll see how things go. For anyone who already purchased the new upper mount in the GP, I'll give a $10 credit in the new GP, since I wasn't able to get them into the first one as a package.

Here is the image of the revised design:

For now, I'm looking for interest. If I run a GP for these, who's interested? I'm going to set a preliminary time frame of running the GP starting on the 18th (next weekend), and the estimated ship date of these being October 30th. This would give the GP approximately 2-3 weeks of run time before the pieces are made.

Are you going to be supplyig the bolts that go into the block ? If not what size do i need to get?

The reason on supplying them with the top mount was because the mount was designed for recessed allen heads, and I wanted to make sure people had ones that would fit properly.

These take two different sizes, and if I remember correctly, they are 10 x 1.75 x 30 for the top two, and 8 x 1.75 x 15 for the other 3. I'll double check the sizes and let you know if they will be included. The one which goes through the torque arm itself will be your factory bolt.

Update! I recieved the quotes, and managed to negotiate a little with them. I can offer these at $75 shipped.

I'm still working on the bolts and I will post the info when I have it.

Yes, it will bolt to the 3100/3400, and use your factory dogbone (or any of the aftermarket ones like TTR's)

Match it with my upper mounts and the engine will bolt right in place without modifying anything.

Is this it for interest in these? It seemed like a lot of people wanting to do V6 swaps are usually asking about bottom mounts.

I'm planning on running the GP starting this weekend, but I was hoping to see more interest in here first.

I am in for one, I will keep an eye out for the GP or shoot me a PM when its up.

I was going to make my own but dont have time to mess with it. I gotta buckle down and get my project rolling.

I am definitely buying these mounts as soon as I can! Thank you for putting all the time and effort you have into making these a reality. I know a v6 swap in my car wouldn't even be a consideration if I had to make the mounts myself. My fab skills are less than desirable!

The GP is officially up. For those who had PM'd me about the uppers that couldn't get to the first GP, I've opened up the new one to uppers, lowers, and the combo.

You can find the new GP here
