Effort.

If people can put Northstar V8s, 3800 V6s in, why wouldn't you be able to put a 2.4L Ecotec engine in? Main reason no one's done it, is it's not worth it. Turbo the L61.

I want to hurt you.... really bad....

No, not the same. Its an ecotec. Do YOU have an ecotec? No.

It comes in the Cobalt/Ion/G5 and some other vehicles.

The reluctor wheel on the crank will need to be swapped with one that is J-body ecu friendly and also the VVT will not work with our ECUs.

Find someone to make a bolt on reluctor wheel for it and swap to a L61 or LSJ head and it'll work. That's it in a nutshell. PJ and I have been talking about what it would take for a while now. We think we have all the kinks worked out, but neither one of us have a LE5 or spare J-body laying around to actually try it on.

Pfft.. just swap the PCM with it... Cobalt gauges and all that... be a Cobalt in a Cavalier skin.

The issue with the newer Ecotecs... usually it's the LSJ or LNF people ask about.... is the transmission mounting and all is too wide for the Cavalier frame rails... so you'd have to hack 'n slash and weld up stuff....

Not to say it's not possible... but no one's successfully done it yet.

Well I have a junk Eco crank from my last motor so I thank I may pick up a 2.4 Eco and play around with I can pick one up but my ? Is do the 2.4 fire the same fire order as a 2.2 I know on dodge neons when I built my 2.4 sohc motor and yes I sad sohc and yes it ran lol I had to move my injectors 1-2 2-3 3-4 4-1 the flip the out side coil wires and turn the cam mag on the cam 90deg so I guss I need to start befor I go but a 2.4 and cut on the crank I need to see if the fire order and injector order are the same on 2.2 & 2.4 but I have my spare junk crank and a head I started port on so I thank I may give it a try after all thay say I could make a 2.0 sohc neon head work on a dodge 2.4 dohc bottom boy was that wrong I miss that car lol but I guss i'm going to mess with the ideal of the Eco 2.4 swap

The L61 reluctor wheel is the only ecotec reluctor wheel that is cast onto the crank and not removable. So it's not as easy as swapping both. You'll need to have the L61 wheel copied and made into a bolt on piece. Or you can leave the wheels along and just run a full standalone.

PJ and I also have some denotation concerns due to the different bores of the LE5 and L61. The edge of the combustion chamber could cause hot spots because it is smaller than the LE5's bore.

if you're into the no replacement for displacement thing, then y only go from a 2.2 to a 2.4? y not just stick a 3800 in it and make some real power?

Relucror wheel on the 2.4 bolt on if this is so he'll it would take nothing to have the wheel welded up and re cut to the specs of a 2.2 crank

I was thankin I have to have the wheel cut off the 2.2 crank welded in place of the 2.4 crank and re blance the crank
