Just curious if anybody has tried putting in one of the FWD V8 motors off the newer grand prix's (don't remember which other models had itbut would assume the impalas also) into a J?

You mean the 5.3L V8 aka LS4? Which was used in the Grand Prix GXP and the Impala SS... I've never seen one stuffed into a J-car yet, but that doesn't mean someone who isn't here on J-body.org hasn't done it already.

Personally, I don't know if it would fit without tubing the front part of the frame... I had a difficult enough time stuffing the 3.8L L67 engine and trans in there...

BFH, some metal, welding skills..... anything is possible.

I bet it would be easier to get that to fit than the Nortstar. It would require the same type clearancing of the frame rails, though. If I were going to do something that crazy, though, I'd look at doing an LS7 or such, using the tranny and FWD parts off the LS4. Hell, if you're going to go nuts on something, why go only partly nuts?

Yeah...I wasn't thinking about doing it....Saw a V8 Grand Prix and I remembered that it was a FWD motor and was just curious if anybody has put that into a J or not
