Hey guys tring to get a hold of gtpsunfire or anyone who knows or has done the lx5 engine swap in a cavalier. I have a 99 oldsmobile inrigue that i can use as a donor car but I dont wanna take it off the guys hand until i know this swap is possible and not a huge huge headache. ANy help would help thanks
aside from being unique its pointless if you want power don't use that motor 3400 and 3800 you can get that power out of them easier and there more reliable but if you wanna do it talk to darren hes the only that i know of that had it in but did switch it out for other reasons
you gonna have to do most of it yourself cause he only went so far on it

cool, yeah its just that donor car popped up and its practically free. So i just figured Id put it to good use but if it too much of a headache I guess ill just go with the 3400. It wouldve been nice though.
either way, check the control arms on that Intrigue. IIRC they're the Aluminum ones and usable on our cars. with the ShortStar, you would have had to make a custom oil pan, which would be one of the more interesting hurdles to jump.
Wait, what?
When did u try getting intouch with me?
lol yeah sorry just a quick action on trying to get some info. I remember GTPsunfire had posted some pictures of his lx5 swap before he went with 3800.

Wrong model. The 99 Alero's had the aluminum arms that work in Js. Intrigues are a completely different design.

intrigue is a W body
if you get the car cheap then i would do it no one has done it complete that i know ofthe wiring will be similar to the 3400 and 3800 as far as making the harness i would assume it reguires the custom subframe but darren would know for sure
