I was wondering, how hard are 2.2 to rebuild, do they sell good after being rebuilt? If not, do the blocks or heads sell good? Everything is stock. thanks
and it depends on what happened to it.
It is from a 00 cavalier. It dropped the number one piston to the oil pan.
so the 2200LN2.
that just depends on how it's re-built. sometimes a re-built (if fresh) motor could be a good, and at the same time, bad selling point.
pro, with a fresh engine, the person has more of a chance of it lasting a bit longer than the average.
con, this may be a sign that whoever had the car previously beat on it and mistreated, possibly causing it more problems in the long run.
either way, the buying may never know what they are getting themselves into.
Hard, no. Time consuming, yes. I also found the main bearings a little expensive compared to other engines. Everything else is dirt cheap tho comparatitively.
I didn't know, I can get the motor cheap. It has about 160k on it and I thought maybe rebuild it and sell it, or sell the heads on it because thaey had just been planed. Thanks for the help
these motors dont "sell" well.....
This is the base model motor in the J, nobody wants it. If anyone is doing motor work they will usually be upgrading to something better. There are some guys on here that play with the 2.2 and put down some decent numbers, but the majority are looking for 2.4 and eco stuff.
dang, I figured they were base motors, since I have one. This one I was looking at was out of a guys daughter's car from when she was 16. I was hoping to at least sell the head, but may scrap it for al, since the block ain't worth anything..
