How many bolts hold the tranny to the motor? It is a auto. Thanks
6 on the bellhousing, 5 on the tranny side and one PITA bolt on the backside going in from the passenger side. Its easy on a 5 speed, but i always found it a pain on the auto. Dont forget the torque converter bolts.
the three going into the flywheel? I got them Where are the 5 bolts at on the tranny? I go for off.
if the motor is stuck to the tranny what is the best way to separate them? Thanks
I got the one under the distributor, the one to the left and right of it, the nut off the stud, the one that came off as a stud. It was mostly eight-teen and one 15 size bolt. does that sound correct? Thanks for the help.
Yes some are studs like that, all of the 6 bolts are 18mm they are all located around the bellhousing where it connects to the engine. These engines dont have distributors so I'm not sure what you're talking about. The 3 on the flywheel are the torque converter bolts. Then there are 6 bellhousing bolts, they are all in plain sight except the one at the back that goes in from the other side. You may have to shuffle the wiring harness out of the way to get at the top few.
i meant the coil. I am use to the old cars, so i am used to saying distributor. Are some of the bolts on the bottom?
im not an administrator but u shouldnt post in more then one section. just sayin so u dont get flamed at.
I now, but I figured, I would try both sections, because I figured some people may know, but not look in both forums.
do I have to remove the stud under by the coil before they will separate? Thanks
The motor and tranny are unbolted, but the motor won't separate. need help.
U gotta be missing a bolt somewhere, get a fresh pair of eyes their to double check your work for ya.
theres 6 trans bolts there 18mm, 3 up the front 3 up the back however 1 hass to be removed from under the car or with a bunch or extensions on autos
3 Torque converter bolts (you will have to spin the flywheel to access them all
then theres a bracket on the back under the coil no idea how many it holds
you should have 6 large bolts
3 small ones and a couple medium ones from that brakcet
the fron bolts (large ones i think 2 of them have engine ground cables hooked to them)

I just remembered I forgot about the stupid bracket at the passenger side of the tranny attached to the block around where the passenger side driveshaft goes in the trans. Only the autos have it, I'm used to the 5 speed.
that bracket is what was holding me up.
