Have a chance to pick-up a 98 z-24 at a good price, the only problem the car idles smooth but as soon as you give it gas you can hear a lower end knock sounds like a rod bearing the car has 161.000 mi on it was wondering if it would be worth fixing or parting it out it has a 2.4 dohc but I already have a 95 with a 2.2 the only difference is that the Z has all the power options on it and a sunroof debating on which way to go with it!!!

If your near ocala florida theres about 6 or 7 3100 in the local junk yard... and a few 3400.. its like v6 hell
- Your not-so-local, untrained, uncertified, backyard mechanic. But my @!#$ runs
Only 161 miles!?
Id agree V6. But if it was me I'd sell the Z for parts or cheap to someone who wants to fix and buy a 2.3 HO and drop it in the 95.
Bought the car drove it home roughly 2 mi. ran fine until you accelerated and heard the knocking noise parked it in the garage my son figures he might want it so I might be doing a lower end rebuild hopefully it wont be that bad, figuring on bearings and oil pump at least!!
