Went to the JCO bash yesterday to race my sunfire in the bracket class and ended up going home on a flatbed because the motor mount bracket snapped in 1/2
Well here is what the engine motor mount bracket is supposed to look like minus this crack
here is what mine looked like when i removed it this afternoon
So where the single bolt is thats the bolt that snapped and that caused the mount to be ripped in 2 lol
by the looks of it there may have been a spacer behind one half of the bracket, when it was tightened down it got a hairline crack in it from the bind., and you helped it along driving it. look around and see if there is supposed to be a spacer behind it, more than likely an engine removal hook is what the spacer is.
Did you recently have any work done to it that would need the spacer to be removed? maybe just misplaced and not put back.

^^ there is nothing behind that bracket its build like that to go onto the contours of the block. the front bolt came loose on me about a month ago and i tightened it. we examined the bold and it had been 1/2 broke and then me doing a burnout most likely snapped the bolt the rest of the way. then once that was snapped it could bend and it snapped the bracket the rest of the way. its all fixed now with a new bracket and 3 new bolts and i locktited them in to the block so they will not come loose again.
ive done that on 2 2.4's.... but its the block that gave for me both times... locktite!!!! allways locktite thos bolts, they back out then worp the block
thats what happens when you do a 3500rpm burnout with drag radials

yea broke my motor mount bracket, 2nd day I had the car back in 06' lol but in a different spot.
mine broke too onmy eco but not in half or anything it happend when i was taking apart the motor.
not sure what i should do about it though

I broke the actual mount doing a launch when I used to street race. Got it replaced under warranty too LOL.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

is that a motor mount bracket for a 2.4? because it really doesn't look like anything I am looking at rockauto.com right now/
